This movie tells the story of Casey Newton, an optimistic young woman recruited to be a part of Tomorrowland – a secret city built by the world’s greatest dreamers, artists, scientists, mathematicians and thinkers; and Frank Walker, a man who helped shape Tomorrowland and was left exiled from the utopian city. Casey’s bright outlook of the future and Frank’s knowledge of Tomorrowland bring them together to help try and save the world from the imminent end of days.

Great review, Craig. Really looking forward to the movie....

Can't wait to see it. Parts were filmed in the town I live in & I have been able to see parts of the town in the longer trailer showing Tim McGraw & the little girl.

I can't wait to see it.....hopefully this weekend if my grand daughter has time to go with me.

I really enjoyed it. Especially in the first few scenes at the 1964 NY World's Fair. I noticed that in most of the film, the audience was quiet and paying attention to the story, which is good. The audience also laughed quite a bit in the appropriate spots. It's definitely a family film.

Do you know how excited I was to see this and how awful it was?

I was anxious since the trailers and the script was terrible absouetly terrible.

The visuals are fantastic, and he direction great but the actual script pacing and characters were all awful...

Had extremely high hopes too

I thought it was a good movie, maybe slightly preachy -but not a great movie. They certainly could have done more with the story, and maybe still could. I read the Before Tomorrowland book and I think that helped with the back story.

Great review, Craig. We saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I really didn't know what to expect as the trailers were so vague. I agree that they really didn't tell you much about Tomorrowland once they got there but that wasn't really the point of the story. Overall, it's just an inspirational message about the future and the human experience. It's a message about hope and opportunity and seeing the best in people. Just like Walt Disney.

I just thought it would be some epic adventure movie. The trailers made it seem so so awesome as well as the whole pin mystery was cool. The movie started off awesome - but after the pin mystery was revealed it just kind of slow crawled to the ending...

I dunno I just had in my mind a new franchise like pirates with it being a huge epic land - just dissapointed and the main girl was extremely unlikeable...

I liked but didn't love the movie. I really did enjoy the scenes that opened the film. And looking at George Clooney is never a waste of time. Would of liked to see more of a plot. But I did like the scripts points about dystopia. Because if I see another movie of doom and gloom I'm gonna scream. This one at least had hope.

Heard on the news this morning that the movie didn't do well. That's really a shame. The public wants the standard formulaic shoot-em-up action/adventure film or romantic comedy or stupid guy comedy. Folks don't know what to with a film that doesn't fit the mold of a typical box office success, a film that actually makes you think and leaves you inspired. I guess that was to be expected. I just find it unfortunate.

It came in first at the box office this weekend so they couldn't expect much more than that!

I'm no expert, but I believe that this weekend isn't the biggest dollar draw for films released so it's possible that it could do better from a financial standpoint over the next couple weeks. It's not a blockbuster that's for sure -but most people at Disney probably didn't expect that anyway.

I did see a write up from one "news source" that it had bombed ...then the numbers came out and it topped the list. So I guess it depends how you look at it, and who you hear it from.

Dean Richards, WGN TV movie critic said it was predictable and gave it a D. I was hesitant to see it because of that, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was captivated and became a quick fan of Athena. Don't let the critics ruin it for you, go see it!

The report I heard said that Memorial Day weekend is typically a big movie weekend and this year wasn't. They specifically mentioned Tomorrowland not doing well but didn't give numbers. I'm glad to hear it topped the box office. At least that's something.

OMG - it was a snooze-fest and one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It was so boring with barely a chuckle (or any emotion) from the audience during the film. When a movie ends with barely a clap, you know the audience isn't thrilled. Yes, it was tops at the box office but just barely. Pitch Perfect 2 came in just under Tomorrowland - quite a disappointing and almost embarrassing opening - down 20% from expectations. The NY Times reports that the estimated cost for production and an almost 2 year marketing campaign is 280 million. Good luck making that kind of money when theaters get approx. 40 percent of the sales. I think bad word of mouth will be even more disastrous during its second weekend. I had such high hopes and expectations too....it went downhill fast after the brief glimpse of the 1964-65 World's Fair. I saw a review giving it 1 1/2 out of 4 stars. I think he gave it one star too many. Don't waste your money! This is going to be a major bomb for Disney.

I guess it really depends on the audience. People (including us) were clapping at the end when we saw it. I have a lot of facebook friends who are Disney fans and not a single one has said anything negative about it yet. Everyone has loved it and some even plan to see it again to catch more the endless details contained in there. I won't go that far but I'll definitely get the DVD when it comes out so I can see all of that stuff.

I think the problem is this is really a movie for big Disney fans. The general public probably won't appreciate it as much which will equate to lower box office results. I think this is going to be a definite "cult classic" type of film for Disney lovers.

When the credits started rolling my 9 year old DD looked at me and said "That movie was amazing". She absolutely loved it. She wants to see it again. She was engaged the whole movie, and when things got exciting was literally on the edge of her seat. I had fun watching her. It is more of a thinking movie than one where you can just shut your mind off and watch a standard typical blockbuster story unfold on screen, and I loved that DD became engaged in that. While it does have the utopia/dystopia type theme that has become popular in recent years and is not original in that aspect, it really is an original intelligent movie. Plus, if you watch closely, there are tons of little Disney details thrown in to spot- I bet you could see it a few times and not catch them all. DH and I both really enjoyed the movie too. If you are interested in seeing it, don't let the critics dissuade you- go see it and judge it for yourself.

I absolutely agree. If they break even on this they will be happy. Although calling it a snooze fest is a little tough in my opinion -they could have done a better job with the story, no question, but I'd be shocked if it ends up being a "major bomb."
