Hi!!
Can anyone give me an idea how much you save on hotel stays with the annual pass? I know we will only be making one trip within the year (not going til May of 2016). Does the annual pass save enough off of the room rate that it makes it worth the cost? We will be staying 2-3 days. Thanks for any input!! :)

The power pass will give you up to 30% off your room. You just have to make sure that you book it as soon as it comes out because they can sell out quickly.

sorry, I am so new to this. So, is it that they only allow a certain number of rooms at a certain time? How far out would I know the days I would be able to use the discount? I like to try to book in Jan for May.

Just got an ap discount the other day for june 22-29. Went from $354 a nite at pbh to $278. That alone saved me $500. This was for a 2q bay view room with a you first upgrade to parlor suite. I did check for the past few months and this year summer aph rates came out late.

If you are only getting the AP for the hotel discount, make sure there's a hotel discount for your dates before buying it.

Go here: http://uo.loewshotels.com/en/booking/uo?hotel=UEPBH,UEHRH,UERPR

Use "APH" in the code field to see if there's an AP rate during the time you're going (it's not going to be out yet for a year from now). If not, keep checking. Book when you see a rate you can live with, then keep checking to see if APH comes up AND if it's better. If it is, you can change the booking.

A discount only saves you as much as the difference between it and the next best price. I've found the APH discount to be mostly worthless. You can almost always get a better deal at Cheaptickets using their promo codes (especially if you wait for a 25% code). The longer the stay, the more booking through Cheaptickets exceeds the APH discount. For stays of only 1-2 days, the APH discount is about 5% better on average. For stays of 7+ days, Cheaptickets is often 15+% better.

Actually for my one week stay cheaptickets is about 4% cheaper. If the reservation was for 6 nights cheaptickets is costing 10% MORE than booking with an aph discount. If the booking was for 2 or 3 nights(days OP were staying) cheaptickets is 21% more. But I wouldn't get my portofino bay suite upgrade for my week booking thru cheaptickets.:sunny:

I went in July and stayed in club level deluxe room at PB. Rack rate for that time we nearly 600 a night. With the annual pass I was able to get the room for just over 300 a night. The rates for a garden view room at the same time was 209 plus tax. I had checked cheap tickets but the price was always more than direct with pass discount.

For March I would think you could expect a rate of 179-209 a night for a basic room at royal or portofino plus tax.

How close to the travel dates are discounts released? Any idea on when/if they would release AP discounts for November?

During "peak" times it doesn't save as much because the "Stay more save more" discount is much less. Below is the SMSM discount schedule. With cheaptickets you get the SMSM discount in addition to the promo code. I don't think you get SMSM with the APH code.

So in summary, APH is only better if you're staying 1-2 nights during non-peak times, or if you're staying less than 7 nights in peak time.

Where are you getting that info?

For me, just check it all, each time.

I don't really want to use cheaptickets because I like getting/having/keeping status with the Loews program, and I don't normally use that site anyway. But I checked it last time at least, and didn't find that I got any better than with the Stay More Save More promo. And that's recently been better than APH. But I check it all out, each time, and I keep on checking until we leave for Orlando.

So APH rate does help on at least a third of the year. It is not totally worthless as you suggest.
BTW i do check cheaptickets and if the discount is that much better than aph i will book it. When i go cheaptickets has never beaten aph rate so far. I also go during the off peak season in oct and nov and still have not gotten rates cheaper than aph.

APH has been worthless for me because we go off-season and do long stays - It's not worthless for everyone, but usually not a big money-saver when compared to Cheaptickets. Don't forget, if you have a preferred or premier annual pass, you can request an upgrade from standard view to pool view no matter where you book.

@bumbershoot - I got the SMSM rate schedule from the Loews Royal Pacific website.

One thing to remember is that you don't get any You First Loews credit when booking through a third party like Cheaptickets.

Did not know uou can get a pool view upgrade by booking standard. Does this apply to deluxe rooms and parlor suites also?

i do longer stays than most and always use the SMSM rate for the room.
35% off and the ap rate isn't even close to the general public rate.

my goal is to keep my loews youfirst status for the additional perks.
so, i don't even look at the 3rd party vendors.

They don't advertise it well (intentionally maybe). I can only find it after you've logged into the APH page. Here are the details - I don't think they allow upgrades to parlor suites.

Complimentary room upgrade upon arrival

  • Legal: Applies from standard/garden view category to bay/water view rooms. Based on seasonal availability; upgrade not guaranteed

there are no upgrades for the parlor suites in the YouFirst program.

it is standard view that you booked in advance to the water view rooms.

with rpr, it is standard room to king suite.
if you are not platinum level, then it would be an upgrade along with a $50 charge per night.
platinum level, no charge.
