ECV with boot?

I've been planning my vacation for months now & thought I had every detail covered until I broke my foot and we leave in a week. Now I'm in a bit of a panic and would greatly appreciate any help. Although I'm in a walking boot, my doctor said a wheelchair/ECV is a must. We have decided that an offsite rental is a must since we are staying at YC & BWI but I have a couple of questions...
1. We were going to check in at YC early and then head to MK for a prepark ADR on our first day. While first looking it doesn't appear that the places deliver that early so is my only option going with a Disney approved company and paying for an extra day to have it delivered the night before or is there another option I'm not thinking of?

2. Does anyone have any experience using an ECV with a broken foot in a boot- would all models be equal or is there a model/feature that would be more comfortable in a boot?

TIA

Hey @southernfriedmom - I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! I hope you heal swiftly and completely! :)

If I was in your boot (sorry, couldn't resist! ;) ) I would narrow down my vendor selection to 2 or 3, then call each one directly. Explain your situation - both the need for an early delivery, and the fact that you will have that big ol' boot on. They can tell you what options they may have for your delivery, as well as make specific recommendations about which model scooter that they rent that will be most comfortable and practical for you.

As an ECV owner, if I had to recommend one for you, I would say go with a 4-wheeler, simply because that will most likely give you the most available space for your boot. Also, 4 wheel units tend to offer better protection for the feet (so your boot doesn't get accidentally bumped by someone or something). Having said all that, there are certainly 3-wheel scooters out there that can accommodate both you, and the boot just fine! :)

Don't forget to decorate your boot! Just because you have to wear it, doesn't mean it can't be pretty! :)

Have a wonderful, Magical trip! :)

Thanks @mamabunny !! I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed and didn't know where to start- this helped. I am about to take your advice and just email 3 or 4 companies and feel them out. I just hope I still have some options with it only being a week out.

@southernfriedmom - call your resort, and see if they have any wheelchairs (standard) available for guests.

Use that chair (someone in your party may need to push you, bring a pair of bike gloves!) JUST for the early ADR on your first day. Yes, it means you will have to go back to the resort to "trade" your resort loaner chair for the ECV you rent, but it will still get you to and from the ADR, and means you don't have to rent an additional vehicle. The buses do run for the early ADR's so there's no problem there - and getting back to the resort should be pretty quick and easy early in the day, as you are going against traffic.

One last thought - practice a bit at the resort, just to get comfy using the ECV; the first time you drive up that ramp on to a bus can be a bit unnerving! :)

Be sure and let us know how your trip went! :)

Now, I'm not 100% sure, because someone else in my party made the arrangements and I was a little doped up on pain meds, but when I broke my foot on my 2011 trip and got a scooter, I *think* it was the Deluxe from Walker. I remember it having plenty of room for my boot.
