I realize I am just speculating at this point ;) but, IF WDW offers this discount again this winter, can the deal be extended beyond 5 nights? I think I remember reading the discount was for 5 nights/6 days.

Also, does this work out to be a better deal than say a RD or FD if either is offered?

Would it be possible at all to do a split stay with the SPD discount by extending only park tickets to say 8 days, check out and use dining credits after the 5th night, and then transferring to another resort to split our stay?

We stayed 7 nights on the SPD deal this past March. FD would have been a better deal, but I can't see them offering it in 2016. I'm not really sure about the split stay part. Are you thinking one part SPD & the other a RO ressie..?

Yes, that was what I was thinking. Maybe 6 nights at POR, then moving to a cabin @ FW on a RD if it was available. I'm hoping by July the discounts will be out, but I'm not sure if that's realistic or not. I'd really like to nail down some details. :)

SPD came Oct 9th 2014 for Jan 5th to Mar 7th. (Canadian dates extended to March 28th). Have fun planning!

Free dining is always better, but the SPD plan could save some families money, depending on how many Disney adults they have and where they want to stay. For example, a family staying at a moderate resort will save money on SPD but a family with two adults and two children 9 and under staying at a deluxe resort will probably save more money with a good room discount. You have to crunch the numbers to see what works out best. :)

You will be able to extend the SPD plan past 5 nights. It should be good for up to 14 days.

Dining credits expire at midnight of the day you check out, so you won't be able to use them past that day.
