Selfie Stick Update

This is why Universal has put in metal detectors, ahead of the injury.

I hope more places follow suit. People just don't get how dangerous it can be to themselves and others.

Can't agree more. The problem with this world is the me first attitude and don't think about people around you.

Well, I have to say that I was pretty irritated on our trip a couple of weeks ago to find that selfie sticks were being sold in the main in-park Universal Studios Store. image.jpg

I got smacked/jabbed with so many of those last trip.People hold them out and don't care/realize how close they are to other people..I also see people walk with them and trip/fall because they aren't paying attention.

I saw them being sold in Citywalk. It's not so much the selfie stick itself as the people who insist on taking them literally everywhere and not using common sense.

I was hit in the head too with one of these stupid sticks. After that happened I felt like walking around and slapping them out of the hands of people that were standing there in a crowd spinning around to film themselves and the mobs around them.

We saw a bunch on the cruise we just got back from. Luckily nobody was intrusive with them. I can't even imagine being in a crowded park with them all over the place.

We have already been conditioned - and have signs galore to reinforce it- to keep all arms and hands inside vehicle at all times.

I cannot believe we now need separate signs that say that you should also not stick a big pole outside the vehicle - just because of some narcissistic idiots that don't have the sense to realize how dangerous it can be.

What's next ???: "Please do not beat yourself, or fellow riders, violently in the face with the Men In Black gun. Injury can occur."

Disney already banned these from the parks altogether. I think they are foolish period but if they wanted to use them off the rides, to me not a huge deal, but a lot easier to enforce if they aren't allowed at all. Using them on the rides is dumb period.

The only thing that I saw was Disney banned them from rides but I've seen them in the parks.
