Banked points are not banked

Received the member newsletter email today and it said that I have all of my points available when I distinctly remember I banked all 175 points into my next use year. Of course, now my banking window is CLOSED for the year and Member Services is CLOSED for the night! I am currently sick to my stomach, as I had banked the points to use next year for a trip to Aulani. UGH! And of course I cleaned out my email last month. I am currently having a heart attack thinking about this!

Did you log in and check your points? There were reports of people receiving emails saying they had points that needed to be banked even though they did not.

Yes, I logged into my DVC member account. I can't wait until they open this morning to see what is going on.

Yes, my email says that I have until April 30th to bank my points. Email is from the May/June newsletter I received yesterday congratulating us on being 10 year DVC members.

I found out the exact date that I banked my points .... April 3rd. I found that out because I remember that I posted on this site that I had just banked points and we were going to Hawaii next year with them.

Just got off the phone from member services and the paperwork is filled out to get my points banked into next use year. It will take 72 hours. I will not get any email or letter in the mail, but they should appear on my member account. Hope some magic works!!!!!

It's good to hear MS is going to take care of this for you! I always save the banking confirmation email for exactly this reason. I also go back to the website a few days before my banking deadline (if I haven't already used the points for a reservation) to double check that my points really are banked.

That is a great idea, Lisa! Honestly this is the first year out of 10 years of membership that this has happened. I usually keep every email I ever received, but this spring my email had over 5000 messages, so I opted to clean it out. Actually the lady at Member Services wanted to bank all 193 points into next use year, but I told her that 18 of those points are from banking last year so I don't expect those to be banked again. So, I had already decided I would lose those 18 points. Just not worth it to go to Florida for essentially one night in a DVC villa.

So glad to hear MS was able to make it right! Did they give any indication about what happened?

Good idea for someone who just started DVC last week. I will keep all the emails and check before the bank date. If I have a December UY, what is the date I need to bank by? I looked and didn't see anything, although there is a lot of stuff here. Thanks!

Problem is you don't always receive DVC emails. I have learned to double check everything with DVC after several mistakes caused by their systems or CM's. I log every transaction and double check reservations, banking, and DME reservations.

One time we had points disappear from our account and a couple of years later we received extra points. We also had a Disney contracted software person added to our account as an associate.

Funny story; the wife and I flew to Denver for a weekend getaway. When we landed, I started looking through my emails for the address of the hotel I booked. I couldn't find it. I remember seeing the confirmation screen when I booked it. Well, it turns out, there was one more button to click to actually reserve the room. But, the funny part is, I was able to book the same room in the same hotel for $10 less while standing on the plane.

I haven't gone through the banking process in a while, but I wonder if it's possible to miss the last button.

I am sure it is possible to miss the last button, but I know I saw that I had 18 points left to use this year and 350 points total for the next use year (175 + 175). Glad your hotel worked out for you!

If I remember from last month! the final page after banking has a breakout similar to the booking confirmation page. Plus, when you book reservations and get to the "select your contract" page, it'll show which contracts have banked points.

I banked 2x last month. Received emails for both banking transactions.

You may want to consider changing over to an email service that basically keeps emails forever. Gmail, outlook, etc. Basically any online email service will do this for you. You can archive instead of deleting which basically appears the same to you on the surface but still allows you to retrieve old emails as needed.

Didn't know that this kind of service actually existed. Thanks for the information!

You have 8 months to bank based on your UY.

YES! I got my points back that I banked that never made it into banking! Aulani, here we come in spring 2016!!!!!

Next time I bank I will be sure to copy down everything in case this happens again.

You could have let her try to do that for you :), though the system may not have let her. I made a reservation and had to borrow points (a final transaction) in addition to using current ones. Last month I called to modify the reservation so I could save some points and maybe do another trip. I got back all of my current use year points (which can still be banked), but I was also getting back 39 borrowed points. The cm was SOOOO nice and asked if I would like them back in the use year I had borrowed them from. pixiedust: I may still need to borrow them to book another trip, but I thought it was so wonderful that the cm did that for me!!!
