Can't stop worrying - Dad's PSA test came back high

My dad had a PSA test done last week and he got the results back yesterday - it was high. Now he is having a biopsy done. He had a high PSA before and had a biopsy and it came back negative. My mom said this test is much higher than the one before. I am freaking out that my dad has cancer. He has so many other health issues I'm worried that they won't be able to treat him and this is what finally gets him.
 
It is always a worry, when will he have the biopsy?

Cancer is always a scare, and an ugly word, try to not worry, . I know it is easier said than done.. Keeping you and your Dad and family in my thoughts and prayers.
 


What were the results?????

Had my initial prostate surgery last Tuesday, focal cryoablation after 3D Prostate Mapping Biopsy. Prostate cancer is not as bad as it sounds.
 
Hope it works out but my dad's PSA spiked about 5 years ago, was told they would recheck in a month and at that time it went down to normal.
 
The biopsy was rescheduled for this morning. On one hand I want the results to come back quickly. On the other hand, the longer it takes the less likely it is cancer.
 


Quick update - it's cancer and its aggressive. He finds out tomorrow if it has spread beyond the prostate, which will determine next steps. My heart is broken.

Not the news you were hoping for, but don't jump to conclusions. Wait for the final results to determine treatment and to proceed from there. Mine ultimately was Gleason 10-aggressive, but no spreading and have proceeded with my course of action that was what I felt comfortable with.

I am with John.. I am sorry with the update, but don't jump ahead of the game.. Try and go one step at a time.. Thinking of you and your family..
 
More positive update - they can't find the cancer anywhere else in his body. He was approved for proton radiation therapy and will start it next month. So far the prognosis looks good. He will have to postpone his Disney trip with my mom and brother. But I guess that means we get to go twice!

My anxiety has been through the roof and its impacting my own health. I've been having problems with my ear and I ended up in tears at the doctor thinking I had lymphoma or a brain tumor.

I appreciate the thoughts and prayers and will return the favor for everyone on here who also needs support.

I am so sorry to hear about your father but the news is good knowing that it hasn't traveled.
you need to take care of yourself. It is very normal to start worrying about your own health after such a tramatic time. Just please believe that this was caught in time. I will pray for you and your family and hopefully you enjoy your vacation-twice!
 
Sorry to hear the updated news he and entire family will be in iur prayers ,
 
Update: Dad "graduated" from proton therapy in November. His test have been looking good so far. Other than fatigue he had no negative effects from the proton therapy. He won't be considered cancer-free until he has 2 years of clean test results, but it looks good so far.
