Nikki & Travis' Disney Dream Cruise Wedding - 4/18/2016 -4/22/2016 - Dessert Party

Finally I have some time to write an update on my wedding planning progression.
Another big task on my to-do list is complete!

Invitations!

The invitation process a bit more problematic for my DF and I than I would like to admit.
When we first started looked at invitations we actually decided on the passport looking ones.
We even put a deposit down to get them designed.
Now here is where the biggest problem is, the design process with the particular designer was so complicated!
Now I feel like i need to put a disclaimer here, DF and I are VERY tech savvy.
I used to work in a technology store and my DF currently (and for the last 6 years) works for a very popular technology company. So usually things like this aren't confusing or complicated for us, we can figure things out fast.
But the format, forms and decisions we had to make (with no samples or examples) were baffling!
I was so annoyed! I didn't want to give this shop my business! :headache:
So with that and the fact that the passport kind of invitation wasn't as unique as I would have liked my invitations to be, we canceled and got our deposit back and continued to look for invitations we liked.

Honestly, I think it was a miracle when I came across KLynxDesigns on
Etsy. As soon as I saw her designs I fell in absolute love and couldn't get them out of my mind but DF didn't want to make the same mistake we made the first time around with the invitations so we kept looking. Looked for another week and there was nothing I loved. I was comparing everything to Kim's designs! I made the decision that I needed those invitations, DF was completely down for it as well and the decisions was made.
I can't remember what I searched to find Kim's shop, I couldn't remember the name of her shop and I was never able to find it again! I was devastated! Why didn't I save it?!:sad:
So I pulled up my browser history and just searched and searched and searched until I finally found it!!
No joke, I was doing a major happy/victory dance! :dancer:

I sent Kim a message about what I was looking for and she was so wonderful and understanding! She told me not to worry about anything, she would make sure it was all to my liking! The process was so smooth and simple and the results were perfection! pixiedust:

Obviously the picture above is not a photo of my finished invitations. The photo is from Kim's Etsy shop.
My invitations are currently in printing! :dance3:

I HIGHLY recommend KLynxDesigns!
Kim is so creative and it really shows in all of her designs and she is just an absolute pleasure to work with!

What do you guys think of my invitation decision?
and thank you for reading along

I am so happy to have found your planning journal. You and your fiancé make a great couple. My husband and I were also together a long time before getting engaged. We also went ring shopping together before he proposed. I don't regret that choice as I have a great ring and wonderful memories shopping together for it.

I love you dress, especially the beautiful chiffon bottom and gorgeous detailed back. So romantic!

Love your invite too with the watercolour splash in the background. Wow

Can't wait to see more, keep'em coming!

Aw, thank you so much!
Ring shopping is a wonderful memory for me too and I wouldn't have had it any other way!
It's so nice to hear someone else also went that direction!

I'm glad you like the dress and invitations I chose!
I didn't realize how overwhelming decisions like that can be but I feel really good about them! :goodvibes

I'm slowly making more and more decisions so I'm hoping I feel good about those too

Just got caught up on your PJ. Love your dress - it is beautiful!

Thank you, love! :goodvibes
I'm so incredibly in love with it and can't wait to finally wear it on my wedding day!
Now to find some accessories!

Catching up and following along!

Love your gown! And Blush must be the in thing this year. So pretty!

Hi!
Thank you for following along :-)
And Thanks! I think Blush and nontraditional colors are definitely a thing this year.
Which is a major bummer for me!
I'm the kind of person that likes to be unique and original and have always wanted a nontraditional color wedding gown!
Oh well :upsidedow

***VENT****

Well, I'm an extremely frustrated bride at the moment.
Which is why there is such a lack of wedding planning updates right now.
I'm sort of in a wedding limbo.

Travis' sister, my future sister-in-law recently got engaged!
Yay for engagements! and yay for this specific engagement!
I absolutely adore her and I'm so thrilled with how happy she is!
I'm so happy for her, I'm legitimately in the process of making & send a engagement basket with a bunch of stuff to help in the wedding planning process! You know, magazines, page markers, wedding planning books, etc.
Ironically she actually got the exact same engagement ring that I have!
Travis was pretty upset about this but I really wasn't!
I was more surprised than anything else.
My ring is very simple and traditional, the only traditional thing I plan to have at my wedding :rolleyes2
Solitaire, round cut diamond in a Tiffany setting.

So here's what I'm really really upset about.
a few days ago I found out that she's planning on having her wedding a few months after ours.
I logically went through and made a list of why this is so upsetting to me:
  1. I've worked so hard already to make this trip and day special and I feel like having another significant wedding a few months later takes away from the sparkle. I don't want to sound like a bridzilla by any stretch of the imagination but I can't help but feel upset with this. I feel like some of the magic in our day will be gone because people will also be focusing on her wedding planning during our wedding trip since it'll be so close.
  2. Her wedding will be another trip for us. She lives in Colorado and we are in Illinois. We planned on taking our Honeymoon in October (wedding is in April) because we love Halloween and it would be the perfect second trip! But now our Honeymoon wouldn't even be an option. Neither of us can take 3 vacations in one year and his sister's wedding is important.
  3. We just sent out our invitations and launched our wedding website so the option of changing our date by any means is just not an option. Wedding invitations are not cheap!

Trav asked if I want him to call her and talk to her but I told him no.
There's no way I could ever have him try and talk her into changing her wedding.
I'm in her shoes, I know how exciting it is to be engaged and planning a wedding.
I know what it's like to have a vision for your dream wedding and sticking to that vision.

So now I'm sitting here in limbo at the verge of tears from anger, frustration, annoyance and hurt feelings and not knowing what to do from here.

Tell me, am I overreacting? Do I have another option?
Other then, you know, sucking it up.
I don't like to settle on things, I'm a perfectionist, and this situation is not perfect.

Oh nicki, it is hard to let go of comparisons, but I would keep the focus on your wedding. What ever the later wedding does will be after yours, and thus, not the copier. Hang in there. Remember, the wedding is what you want it to be, and I would not compare or care about the other one. Just try to be happy for your DS, and as famously said, let it go. You will have the wedding of your dreams and be a beautiful bride.
