Goofy's Kitchen

In all our trips to DLR, we have never eaten at Goofy's Kitchen. We are running out of new places to try, so we are thinking about it for our next visit in August. What do you say Goofy's Kitchen: yay or nay?

We booked a trip through costco travel and get one free character dining experience. We have done Minnie and Friends several times as well as Storytellers. So now, it's between Goofy's, Surf's Up and Ariel's. Which would you choose?

Last time we did Goofy's was 8 years ago and I'm thinking we might go on our upcoming Aug trip. We did Ariel's 6 years ago when DD was into princesses. I would recommend that if you have girls in that phase. I have no experience with Surf's. I like the idea of Goofy's though for the dinner buffet.

Never mind Ariel's. I'm the only girl in this house. In fact, we don't have any little ones, our son is a teenager. Probably why we have only done the plaza and storytellers... no princesses and not too conspicuous for a table with no kiddos.

We ate at Goofy's Kitchen this past February and really enjoyed it, granted my son is 3 1/2 and LOVED seeing all his fave characters. The food was pretty good, although nothing stands out as being amazing. Plenty of groups with no children/older children when we were there.

We went to Goofy's Kitchen as a group of 4 adults in 2012 and had a great time there! All the food was good and we had good interactions with all the characters that came through.

I've never experienced Surf's Up but from what I've gathered from the boards is that one tends to be a little louder and crazier (kids get up to dance, etc.) and maybe geared a little bit more towards the kiddo crowd. But I'm sure it's just fine for a group of teenagers/adults as well.

Our favorite is Surf's Up! but I have 5 and 9 year old boys and we like the character interaction best (Stitch is my favorite!). The 4 that we notice usually roam are Stitch, Daisy, Minnie, and Pluto and they tend to be a lot more mischievous and playful overall, and will come back and play multiple times during our meal. About every 30 minutes or so there is a dance party up near the restaurant entrance. I like the food best but I can get Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles there and that satisfies my breakfast buffet needs.

I really like Goofy's Kitchen and it is an overall second favorite. I haven't tried the dinner there, but the brunch is great because you get breakfast foods or hot and cold lunch items, and a big ol' dessert buffet (which my kids think is the most amazing thing and I am not one to turn down sweets with my morning coffee!). We usually meet around 7-10 characters depending on our luck over the years, with our favorite hands down being the Mad Hatter who is the only one who can really make my 9 year old who is nervous around characters come out of his shell and talk. It feels quieter in Goofy's kitchen to us and we feel like we get the best variety of food and characters for the money. I like the quality of the food at Goofy's a slight bit better than Minnie's breakfast but the character interaction was really comparable. Oh, and they win extra points with me because during my kids' double birthday trip they brought them both a cupcake when they saw their birthday pins - which really made their day :)

We've never done Storyteller's and with our upcoming Costco package we are going to use our free vouchers there. I like the idea of meeting some of the more unique critter characters and have heard the food is pretty good so I'm excited to try something outside of our usual dining routine.

The food was wonderful at Storyteller's, better than Minnie and Friends I believe. Although, I enjoy Minnie's breakfast as well. I liked the few healthier options at storytellers. I'm still thinking about Goofy's for a change. I just feel like it would take us away from the parks for too long. Storyteller's is in our hotel and Minnie is right there in the middle of the park, so they are obvious choices.

Oh good point. We have always either dined at Goofy's first 7 a.m.ish seating when parks would be open at 8 or 9, or around 11ish so when we were done the kids would go back to the hotel for a post-lunch break. It does feel out of the way. We like to take a monorail ride in to DTD and after brunch maybe some early afternoon shopping in DTD (my kids gotta do the Lego store every time) so it feels like we're getting all of the out-of-the-way stuff done in one block of time.

In case you don't know, the Goofy's Kitchen character format changed last October. You will now only see four characters in addition to seeing Goofy for the photo op at the entrance. You will see Miinie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto.

They no longer dance with the kids there either. Every 30 mins or so, Goofy leads as the characters run through the restaurant twirling napkins over their heads.

My preference is Storyteller's...I like the atmosphere and food. Plus it is in our home resort, so we can mosey down around 15 mins before our reservation. However, Goofy's Kitchen has good food, especially desserts, and the characters are usually out in force. If you haven't tried Goofy's Kitchen I say give it a shot.

We eat Goofy's Kitchen the dinner every time and will next time we like it because its buffet so there is something for everyone and it's pretty good food, we didn't like the food at Ariel's last summer

Interesting about using the voucher anywhere. We really enjoyed Carthay Circle last year and would love to go again.
