I'm going to Disapalooza! My first one and first time at Universal since '92! I went to the Richmond DIS meet a few weeks ago and met a lot of great DIS folks, so it made me definitely want to go in December!

Some of my favorite things to do at WDW: meet characters, campfire singalong, watch Irish dance show at Raglan Road, Yehaa Bob show, Jellyrolls, character meals, and would like to do the railroad tour next time.

Will be at WDW July 11 - 21, 2015, and would like to meet others for meals, rides, shows, etc. Anyone else going during that time frame?

Also considering a WDW trip for spring 2016 and may be available to meet up during at least part of it.

Feel free to PM for more info.

If I end up going...it'll be solo. Maybe we can meet up!

I've never done a solo trip, but visiting the board lately has somewhat encouraged the idea of it. This past September I had a great trip to Disney with one of my guy friends, but after he started dating someone he cut me out (after 5 years of friendship). I was pretty bummed thinking about going to Disney again, after such a great experience and knowing we won't be friends again. But I LOVE DISNEY! it's time to make some new memories, and it'd be cool to meet up with some fellow disney fanatics! :)

Name: Merina

Age/Kids/Job: 29 / No kids - just am an aunt to my awesome niece and nephew! / Project Manager

Where/When I want to go: I would love to visit during the Food and Wine festival but i'm considering taking a impromptu trip either in June or September again. And I always want to go!!

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): Moderate, but I definitely love soaking up the sights, smells, and sounds.

What are you trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): Moderate, i've stayed at some of the value resorts as well as the villas. Of course I love Polynesian :)

Planned or laid back trip: Either! I definitely like to take advantage of all the parks have to offer, but it could be at a laid back pace.

Morning or night person: I generally am more of a night owl, but for Disney I can be up bright and early.

Favorite parks: Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Are you a leader or a follower (i.e. okay with someone else planning and you just tag along or vice verse): I'm the flexible one. I can be a follower or leader if necessary.

Sounds good! I'm hoping to be able to go down a couple of days before. I want to do maybe that Friday at Epcot and do the candlelight processional. It's my favorite thing about WDW Christmas. I had thought about maybe doing Universal Saturday. That might be too much though! Maybe resort hop Saturday during the day to see fun Christmas stuff. I'm hoping they will do a podcast that day somewhere to watch as well. They mentioned the possibility. Anyway...glad to have a long time to figure it all out!

What is Disapalooza? I'm assuming it's associated with this site? I must have missed it.

I really want to do Dapper Day. I wonder if I could budget it in? I've got my upcoming WDW trip and my son and I are going to Dublin for a week in July so I'm a bit stretched thin.

Sorry about your friend. I bet he'll come crawling back if the relationship ends lol! I've done 2 solos and I had a great time.

What is Disapalooza? I'm assuming it's associated with this site? I must have missed it.

I tried to add a link here but couldn't get it to work. But yes...the DIS team hosts a party for DIS fans in one of the parks on odd numbered years. On even numbered years they do a podcast cruise. If you go under the DIS Unplugged forum on here you will see 2015 Disapalooza Info and all the details will be there. It's close to selling out so if you think you may want to do it get a ticket! Tickets are $75. It's December 5th from 9pm-midnight. They are renting out Diagon Alley at Universal! So just our group of under 1,000 people will have a private party in Diagon Alley, can ride the rides they have there as much as you want, all you can eat ice cream and all you can drink butter beer.

Hi everyone. This is such a great idea. I’d like to join in if it’s ok.

Here’s my intro:

A little bit about me: My name is Monet. I’m a 29 year old mother of 3 (DD3, DS5, DD7). I am a Registered Nurse, and a full time student. I’m the only person that I know in my real life who loves Disney. My husband goes on family trips because he knows how much I (and the kids) love it, but in reality he could take it or leave it. I don’t have a ton of friends because I am generally a shy person, but the ones I do have don’t care about Disney at all. I would really love to make a “Disney friend”. For my husband going once a year or once every other year with the kids is plenty. I think it would be fun to go in between my family trips as well.

Where/When I want to go: WDW is easiest for me since I live on the east coast. I have never been to Disneyland but I am dying to go though. I’d love to go to WDW this fall. As a thrill ride enthusiast, I really love Universal too. I’d like to do HHN, MNSHP, and Food and Wine. Disapalooza sounds like a blast too!

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): I prefer a moderate travel style.

What are you trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): Moderate, but I’ll spend the money for luxury every once in a while.

Planned or laid back trip: I prefer to plan my trips, but then I never really stick to the plan when I go with my family. I’ve never done a solo trip yet, I’m not sure how I would go about that.

Morning or night person: In real life I’m a night person. I worked the overnight shift for several years. I haven’t had a daily commitment (work or school) to be anywhere before 10am since my freshman year as an undergrad! But I love the low crowds during rope drop at Disney, and I can’t help but shake the feeling that if I’m sleeping I’m wasting time while I’m there.

Favorite parks: MK, AK, HS, EP in that order… but that doesn’t really mean anything because I love them all!

Are you a leader or a follower (i.e. okay with someone else planning and you just tag along or vice verse): Both. I love planning but I am a very “go with the flow” type of person.

Rate these in importance (1 most important, 6 least important); Rides, food, tours, character experiences, shopping, down time: 1. Rides, 2. Food, 3. Shopping, 4. Tours, 5. Downtime, 6. Characters (That was kind of tough!)

What time of year do you most like to travel: Fall is my fav. Fairly low crowds, Halloween, food and wine… it’s great. Spring would be my next favorite because of the perfect weather.

You all seem wonderful. I hope to make a friend from this thread! :-) Here's my info:

Name: Meredith

Age/Kids/Job: 25, no kids - just the cutest little jackrussell chihuahua ever, full time student right now

Location:
Washington state

Where/When I want to go: Everywhere.. I have been to WDW and Hong Kong Disneyland but not to California yet which I expect will be my next adventure

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): moderate I guess. I like to be up early, first thing in the park when it opens and pretty much go until close or at least until the end of the night shows depending on how much feet are dying/how much time left in the trip.

What are you trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): budget-moderate simply because I don't spend time in the room and would rather be in the parks and spend money there :P

Planned or laid back trip: Planner, but just key things I want to do. Spontaneity happens but I do like to have a plan somewhat at least for the day to maximize how much I can fit in. I'm actually really great at planning if I do say so myself. Would love to be a vacation planner someday..

Morning or night person: Early and get the most out of the day!
My favorite WDW parks are : Can I just say all of them? They're all wonderful in their own way. MK is my favorite though.

Favorite restaurants: Ohana, Crystal Palace, BE OUR GUEST!!!! Akershus was pretty great too.. I'd like to try some new ones I haven't been to though!

Are you a leader or a follower (i.e. okay with someone else planning and you just tag along or vice verse): Not really either. I'm a great planner but also open to ideas. Working together to create an epic adventure would be great!

Rate these in importance (1 most important, 6 least important); Rides, food, tours, character experiences, shopping, down time:
1. Rides
2. Characters
3. Food (but like I can live off of one good meal and dole whip and mickey bars)
4. Shopping
5. Downtime
6. Tours
Something like that

What time of year do you most like to travel: Anytime honestly. I'd love to have some experiences in fall/winter though cause I've never been!

Thanks to this thread, I know to pack for Dapper Day. Awesome! Still trying to find a friend to come with me, but:

Location: Toronto

Where/When I want to go: Going late Sept/early Oct.

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): Moderate, but very ride-centric

What are you trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): low end deluxe. I don't think I could bring myself to stay at the Poly, but I am doing BC and AKL.

Planned or laid back trip: So planner.

Morning or night person: Weirdly, I don't think of myself as a morning person, but I tend to wake up early on vacation.

My favorite WDW parks are : MK and AK. And Epcot and DHS.

Favorite restaurants: Boma and Kona Cafe

Are you a leader or a follower(i.e. okay with someone else planning and you just tag along or vice verse): I'm very Alpha. I can't help it. I try.

Rate these in importance (1 most important, 6 least important); Rides, food, tours, character experiences, shopping, down time:

What time of year do you most like to travel: Late Summer/early fall.

I'm really missing WDW! Anyone have anything exciting scheduled that I can dream about?
