We arrive in Hawaii in just over three weeks! Our flight lands at 11:30 and we want to go to either Rainbow Drive In or Deans Drive In for lunch. We imagine it will be around 1:00. I know Deans is a bit further, but we were thinking traffic to Aulani might be better afterwards. Does anyone know if that's true? Does anyone have any input on these two places? We will have our 3 and 4 year olds with us. Thanks!

I would stick with Rainbow then. Dean's is all the way over on the windward side in Kaneohe. You will definitely hit more traffic on the way back if you come from there. Rainbow will be a short drive from the airport, and you should be able to head to Aulani without too much commuter traffic.
I would plan on Dean's on a day you will be over on that side (visiting Kualoa Ranch or Kailua/Lanikai Beach).

We just went to the Rainbow drive in tonight and OH MY GOODNESS it is AWESOME!! It is quite a drive though and with traffic it took us almost an hour to get back. Traffic here is no joke!:snail:

If you goto rainbows at about 1pm and then drive to aulani the traffic will be bad after lunch. Traffic on the H1 freeway starts at about 3pm. Try this little eatery in waipahu called kristens kitchen. The make a pretty good loco moco and spicy chicken katsu.
