How likely is it that this waitlist will come through?

So, I need one hotel night in early December for both my parents and my family (pre-cruise). I jumped on at 8am this morning, but wasn't able to get 2 studio rooms at the same hotel. I currently have us booked at the Beach Club, and my parents booked at the Boardwalk. I've cross waitlisted both reservations so that if a studio opens up an one or the other places we can get into the same hotel. I know that this is a busy time of year for DVC and that its possible neither waitlist may come through. We still have the option of switching both of our reservations to SSR (meh), Key West (double meh), and AKV (husband is not a fan).

So, what is the likelihood that one or the other of my waitlists will come through? Should i just forget it and go with SSR (which wouldn't be terrible)?

Anyone's guess. Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Which category did you waitlist at BWV? You'll have a better chance with a pool/garden view than any other.

I guess the real question is, how long do I wait before just switching to SSR out of pure frustration? Certainly, where we stay will have an effect on where we choose to eat that night, and ADRs are coming up in June....

I thought about that, but recently (I've been stalking the availability tracker) the Boardwalk views were available and others not. So, that's what I went with. The Boardwalk view was what I managed to get for my parents. Hmmm....maybe I should change.

What happens if one of you gets BWV and the other gets BCV on the waitlist ?

Personally, I would drop the waitlist for BCV. You already have a waitlist at BWV for Boardwalk view. I would add a waitlist for you for BWV for pool/garden view. This gets you wait listed for about 90% of the studio units at BWV. Since the 7 month window opened today, your were able to book one studio there today and you are only looking at one night, I would expect your waitlist will come through. -- Suzanne

I agree with SuzanneSLO - I'd drop the BCV and waitlist 2 categories at BWV. But in the end if neither comes thru the resorts are not that far apart so why not just stay with those since the other options available are not appealing to you?

I can't imagine getting that lucky.

That is a thought, actually....

I've thought that too, but I really don't want to be separated from my parents if at all possible.

Thanks for the help guys, you've given me some things to discuss with DH.

I'd say you have until oct to keep your waitlist for bwv and then switch over to ssr. But did you see the posts about all the new rooms at bwv? Hopefully it was for the night you needed!
