Hi all - I'm considering registering for the 2016 Marathon, which would be my first marathon - eek! I've only started running/training seriously about a year ago. I've completed 4 half marathons and several 10k races at this point, but I'm still a run-walk person, so I'm trying to decide if it would be totally crazy to try for my first marathon at this point. I have a milestone birthday coming up in 2016, and would love to say I'm a marathoner by that age. But, I'm also trying to keep my rD budget in check because I am determined to get to the inaugural Disneyland Paris half weekend in Sept. 2016.
To pile on with everyone else; yes, you can finish a marathon and it would not be crazy to set your sights on the 2016 WDW marathon. I had only run one half marathon before signing up for my first marathon and was able to finish, so extensive experience is not really a requirement. Having finished those four half marathons will certainly give you an understanding of the task running a marathon represents. Preparation and training are key, but force of will is always what gets a runner through on the day.
Whether you should sign up is a much more complicated question that no one else can really make for you; there is just no reason for 26.2 miles to be an obstacle.
