Gator!

The alligator was very near the dog park and playground. My husband lived in Florida as a child and didn't seem at all worried, altho I was a little freaked at first especially as I had 2 dogs with me, one only 5 lbs. It was very cool tho. You could clearly see his head.

Don't want to scare anyone either, gators everywhere in Florida. I think it was pretty cool we saw one on our very first trip to FW! I love nature. I think some of the regulars on here that are making jokes that go to FW all the time may be jealous they didn't see one, hehe. :love2: I'm teasing! My husband said to me that if you lived in Florida, you are used to alligators possibly being in any body of water around. So I wouldn't let it stop me from camping. Especially at FW, which was so wonderful. I guess you could say then you wouldn't go outside anywhere in Florida where there is water. We originally saw it around the bend in the water on the side area of the dog park and honestly just kept an eye out and did not worry at all, continued to walk our dogs behind our camper, etc. We did tell them at the main post that we saw an alligator and they said they would look into it. This gator from the size of his head looked more like 4 feet at least.

Yes, true, but I fear them more than snakes - and that is saying
something!!!! :scared1:

I'm about as deep south of a gal as you can find - so. LA - but I really, really hate that they are right there in the campground - have never seen one there and will hope we never will! Definitely not a lover of that type nature!

Sorry to scare you, but Gators, snakes, all kinds of wild life are all over Florida and the South, its part of living down there. Most Gators, snake ,bears, cougars, etc., are likely more afraid of you then you are of them............You keep your distance and leave them alone and they are likely to leave you alone!

Oh, yes, I know only too well, have seen more than my share of 'all' of them - just never thought about them being at the Fort - just thought of it as being in the Disney bubble - or wishing, anyway, LOL!!
