We will be staying off-site in June for 7-night and not planning to go into the parks every day. I know we will do some pool time, but also looking for other things to do in Orlando area that do not cost a fortune. Not interested in the other theme parks this trip, but minor things that my family of 5 could do without having to donate plasma. :crazy2:

Suggestions?

We are doing some minor attraction days at end of the month too, here are some options:

- Just opened and reasonable for the combo tickets is Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds and SeaLife.

- Groupon for Skeletons just opened at Orlando Eye http://skeletonmuseum.com/

- Groupon for the Characters in Flight in Downtown Disney

- Wonderworks - always can find coupons for this even if just a few dollars off each ticket

- Gatorland - always find coupons there is one on their site for $2.50

- Groupon for Glow in the Dark Mini Golf. Our family did this here at home and we had a blast!

- Groupon for Monster Truck Swamp Tour, Watch video looks cool. http://www.showcaseofcitrus.com/

At your lodging check in lobby for all the brochures there is often coupon books or coupons on the brochures.

Go to a state park and take a picnic - entrance fee is around $6 per car. You can walk, or even swim in a spring at some of them.

Then there is the newly opened Orlando Eye, Sealife and Madame Tussaud's. There have been discounted tickets available recently for these.

You could play mini golf, go pick oranges at Showcase of Citrus, take an airboat ride or go to the beach. Obviously some are more expensive than others and some require more time. Anything take your fancy?

ANy info on the air boats or monster truck swamp tour. Both sounds like things my kids would love.

Not been but considering in a couple weeks. I watched the video on their website and looks like a nice break for the chaos of the parks. Bus turned monster truck, think my DS will love that.

We've done an airboat ride. That was fun. We've also done the zipline tour at ForeverFlorida (foreverflorida.com). Since we were there, they've added some other attractions. Definitely worth checking out.

I'm going to make a somewhat "under the radar" suggestion to go visit the Gaylord Palms hotel. You have to pay to park ($18 I think) but it's a great place to spend a couple of hours exploring the massive indoor atrium lobby, grab a bite to eat, and just escape the sun and heat for some time.

Old Town is cheesy but Friday and Saturday nights they have classic car cruise nights. They also have some amusement rides and a decent go kart track. There's also Fun Spot which has 2 locations, one on 192 and one on I-Drive.

There's always beaches on both coasts (1 hour to 1.5 hours away), Kennedy Space Center (about an hour), there's also a science museum in Orlando, you can go to Universal's City Walk (parking reduced after about 6:00).

Seconding Old Town. :) Especially on the classic car nights, just nice to walk around and look at things.

I would recommend an escape room. So much fun! DBF and I have done Escapology Orlando and MindQuest Live Orlando.

Both of them have Groupon deals at the moment, but I don't know how long these offers will last. DBF and I have done these two particular escape room businesses because they will not group your party with another party for the experience.

We just returned from Orlando on the weekend. While in town, we rode the Orlando Eye and visited Skeletons: Animals Unveiled (also located within the IDrive360 complex). Both awesome and worthwhile attractions. You can get a discount on Eye/SeaLife Aquarium/Madame Tussauds tickets if you order online before you visit. We got our Skeletons tickets at a 40% discount from Groupon (not sure if that's still being offered or not).

An airboat ride is also awesome, as is Gatorland. We have done the Showcase of Citrus monster truck tour twice, and its a great value if you can get half price tickets through Groupon or Livingsocial (have one of their orange slushies....they're divine).

We love mini golfing. Congo River is a favourite because you can also feed their gators, fish and turtles.

We have visited Safari Wilderness (and it's sister park, Giraffe Ranch in Dade City) in Lakeland and found it to be one of the best, most memorable things to do outside of WDW. It's available on Groupon right now, but is totally worth it at full price.

The Titanic Attraction on I drive is really well done (takes about two hours to do). // There is also IFly safe skydiving in a wind tunnel, a hit with sky diving teams and tourists. (our party ages 14-71 all did this). // Gatorland (already mentioned) is a fun place for three hours or so.
