DVC cash rooms

My brother is interested in joining us on our star wars weekend trip. He tells me today asking what rooms I could get. I told him next to nothing. There are some rooms available, but I don't think he's interested in those resorts. BLT has cash rooms available on the disney site. Do members still get 25% discount on cash rooms? I thought I had read that somewhere in the past. Maybe I'm mistaken. It's not something I ever thought we'd do, so I can't remember.

If the answer is yes.....can I book it for him? or does the discount ONLY apply to me as the member?

The DVC cash discount is 25% but it isn't always available and I don't think that they pull from the regular Disney room inventory. Just because you see a room on the Disney site, that doesn't mean that DVC can get you a room.

Thanks Bill. I never really looked into it, because I never felt it was worth paying....but if they did let me book it for my brother, than it would be wise to know since he may be interested. I just as soon book a different resort with my points than pay cash

You can book the cash room for you and make the point reservation for your brother.

There is no availability as it's such short notice. Rooms are available on the disney website....but as Bill states, that may not be available inventory available to book for cash. I could definitly rent points from another owner if A) there were rooms available on points or B) My brother was willing to stay somewhere else.

It would be cheaper at this point for him to stay at swan or dolphin for $199 a night, or rent points and take a 1 br at SSR or OWK, but he is weird about it, and I was just making a general inquiry about it. I already have a room at AKV...2 actually, 1 for me and 1 for my inlaws. He is considering a last minute join us trip.

On the occasions we have looked, the annual passholder discount, through central reservations, has been greater than the discount offered through DVC member services. Old Key West and Saratoga Springs, for example, were more than $50 less with an annual pass.

You probably know this, but I'll mention it just in case. The discounts for the general public sometimes apply to cash reservations at DVC resorts. When I was at AKV a few months ago, I booked a BounceBack cash resie for a BCV studio at 35% off rack rate. I wonder if there is a discount for the general public for Kidani during the timeframe you need? There are different blocks of rooms for different discounts.

hey with the s&d being near Epcot and Studios - if he is coming for the star wars thing - he like actually like being closer. would definitely ask him about those.
