Are all Disney resort perks fair?

They have access to a posters IP address. They know which IPs are causing trouble. They are not going to delete any new account by accident.

Since you appear to have the inside scoop, then hypothetically if a truly new poster were to sign up, and lets say post negatively about FP+ for instance- right off the bat- would they be safe to continue posting or on the chopping block?

I would have to assume that's the case, but it wasn't me reporting.
Oh no accusations from me but I find all of this pretty strange. As Mickey&Mouse just asked how would anyone know if the new poster was just an innocent new member or a troublemaker.

By the way, what is the "PR Team" thing someone mentioned earlier?

I have to admit that I find this very strange as well.

I really don't have an inside scoop because like any other Diser, I'm not privy to moderating decisions. If you're really concerned about this I'd email the Disboards Admin about it. Hope that helps.

The PR posts are deleted now as far as I know. Because they were essentially bullying people.

I'm not understanding what's strange about this. People were being insulting to specific posters. Those posters are now mistrusting because who knows who is going to troll them next. They may check a new poster's posts. But nowhere does anyone say they report all people who are negative towards fp+ or all new posters in general. That was mickey&mouse's suggestion.

I guess they have their ways. :confused3

Pr is Public relations. That wasn't one of the derogatory ones though.

And yes, it is very strange to say the least. I'm not sure why anyone would take time and energy out of their day to do this.

Thanks for the tip on contacting the Dis Admin. I actually thought that you and Ambear were the moderators/admin since you both seem to have such intimate knowledge of the inner workings- hence my questions lol.

What was my suggestion? The hypothetical question I posed while attempting to get clarification on a somewhat murky posting *violation* that apparently got some posts and posters removed? Again, in all the confusion over what's allowed to be posted lately, looking into posting histories, talk of a "PR Team", etc- I just thought that several of you guys were working for DISboards and continually jumping into threads to make sure people tow the line. I guess posts, like appearances, can be deceiving.

Well, it's clear you're just trying to be confrontational now. This is a completely unnecessarily sarcastic and rude post. Though quite reminiscent of the "PR" posts and posters in question! :D

Nope, sorry not a mod. Really the only thing I know about moderating is what I already told you and what's stated in the Disboards posting guidelines. Hardly intimate knowledge, I'd consider it more like common knowledge.

Hope that didn't come off as offensive. I thought this moderating stuff was common knowledge, but I guess I was wrong.

we always stay onsite and the more perks offerred to us, the better! I think it is totally fair. of course disney gives more advantages to those who not only pay for the theme park tickets, but also give them the money for the accomodations.

you have to weigh out your options and see what works out best for you. if I pay the money to stay onsite I EXPECT to get more than offsite guests.

and no, it's not a "caste" system. there are some VERY nice expensive resorts offsite. (gaylord palms?) some people do snot spend all their tmie at disney. they do other things. it's just a matter of getting better perks for giving Disney more of your money. and it is totally fair.

Its been a long day today and I have tons of work to do before we leave for Orlando, to be followed by Siesta Key for a couple of weeks. I haven't enjoyed today...but (insert ray of sunshine here :) )both you and mom2rtk have had me in stitches...and I just want to say thanks...cause I needed a chuckle :)

I have a ton of trouble staying in the Disney bubble in California. There is so much to do and see there!

And the bubble zone is so much smaller then Disney World.

It feels more like Universal, where you can walk across the street to off-site hotel.

:dogdance: Can we come stay in the on-site room you aren't using?! For real!!!! This could be mutually beneficial! PM me!! :dogdance:

This a totally new business model! Instead of renting DVC points, you rent a room at a discounted rate from someone who just wants the FP+ privileges.

I know you must be joking... but , if not, how would you get into the room without their magic band? see, disney is one step ahead of you! thought of everything!

Nope, not at all happy about that. I realize that I'm in the minority, but I am 100% in favor of deluxe resort guests receiving more perks than moderate/value guests. And moderate resort guests should receive more perks than value resort guests. And value resort guests should receive more perks than offsite guests.

I'm not sure how people can argue that "onsite should get more perks than offsite because they are giving Disney more money" without seeing how the same logic applies when discussing deluxe vs. value guests. Same principle.

As far as the onsite vs. offsite debate: I recognize that Disney deluxe resorts are absolutely not "deluxe" in the real world..the only thing truly deluxe about them is their price and their proximity to the World. They are beautiful, clean, and creatively themed, but certainly not deluxe. That being said, I am willing to pay the high prices for the experience of staying in the Disney bubble 24/7, and therefore don't mind forgoing the true deluxe experience in favor of Mouse Immersion. It is well worth it to us, but I can appreciate that others may feel differently. We have friends who can only take Disney in 8-hour bites; by the time their day in the park is done, they are OVER Disney and don't want to see another pair of mouse ears until they arrive back in the parks the next morning. (After thinking about it, I cannot understand how we are friends, lol).

.

there is giving disney "theme park" money. and giving disney "lodging" money. those that give disney their "lodging" money should get more perks than those only giving them the "theme park" money. (because they are probably spending money at seea world, universal ,gator land, lego land, etc. etc.)/

now. the difference in the LEVEL of the resort? that is made up for by the ammenities. the all star guest is staying onsite. the Grand Floridian guest is staying onsite. the THEME PARK perks should remain the same. the RESORT perks should not. value resorts? no sit down restaurant. no indoor bar. no pool slide.
moderate resorts? still no inside corridors. but slides and sit down restaurant (ol not FQ, but it is a sister resort with POR)

this is why AK and WL and the 2 cheaper deluxe resorts. proximity. not monorail resorts. not Crescent Lake resorts (boat or walk to epcot and DHS)

the difference in price for onsite resorts determines the amenities. GF guests get a LOT more than All star guests (and I have stayed at both) but ALL on site guests should get the same theme park perks. IMHO

And this is why there is onsite and offsite with choices for all. What you just described for me sounds like prison camp. Seriously....I would stress worrying about my luggage getting to and from (Ive had way too many airline issues with luggage already),when we take a cruise and they want the luggage outside the room in the night I'd rather struggle with mine in the am than leave it to end up gawd knows where . And no rental car....omg. When we went to Costa Rica 2 years ago, for the first time in all our travels and we've done a number of continents dh and I decided to forgo driving for part of our trip. That wont happen again. We felt as though we were at the mercy of the property. We didn't explore as much as we normally do...quite frankly although we loved cr we felt as though we missed something. It will be a long time before I do another holiday without a rental car at our disposal. I just feel we miss too much for our style/preference for a holiday.

Just food for thought and Im not sure what others might think of this but perhaps the difference is the perception of a "Disney" vacation vs a "florida vacation". Gotta say Ive not thought about it before but I cant help but think that this might be why some really love onsite, while others are the opposite. I really enjoy Disney, Ive been going since I was a child and deep down inside I imagine no matter how old I will get I always will. That said growing up if our family was going to DL or later when we went to DW, it was a "part of" and not the whole of our holiday. In Cali we would also go to San Fran, San Diego, beaches etc. In Florida we always(or almost always ) do something other than Orlando, and when we do just Orlando it involves more than Disney. When asked where we're going on holidays the response will be , Orlando, or Siesta Key, or a stop to and from the Caribbean or.....We will add that we're also going to do Disney or U, or whatever else we have planned but it is never just about D, while Ive noticed a great deal of the onsiters talk not about going to Florida, but rather about going to Disney. It is sort of like our friends who do all inclusives who don't say we're going to Jamaica, or Mexico, they talk instead about the resort. In the bigger picture neither approach is better imho but rather just different in terms of what one wants from their vacation.
