DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Pretty normal with DW and the kids in our house. I just keep quiet and make sure the kids remain respectful until I am told I need to contribute. Then after my first sentence, I am told to shut up again and just provide support. Not sure I can survive the teenage years, but we'll give it the old college try.

It's like I'm looking into a mirror.

Just got text from DS. On the honor roll for Quarter 3!:banana: He has done a pretty good job balancing school, sports and having his first job at age 15. Pretty proud of him. I guess I may have down something right. He told me yesterday that he decided to invent something he enjoys so he can be superrich and be happy in life. I can't wait to see it. :goodvibes

Morning all. I had a first for me yesterday. While playing tennis, I broke a string on my tennis racket (not a first) and then immediate broke a string on my 2nd tennis racket. I'm just glad that wasn't anything on me breaking. :crazy2:

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.
But it's certainly a day worth commemorating.

Bravo. That should be a t-shirt meme. Can I nominate that for post of the month?

Morning Guys. Happy pre Cinco de Mayo. I follow La Cava on Twitter and they are planning for a big day. Not sure I want to be there. Was walking the World Showcase one year on the 5th and it was crazy, even worse than F&W. Groups with drink around the world shirts, people slobber knockered and even a few asleep on a bench. Who am I kidding, of course I want to be there.

I was worried about you for a second. I want to be there as well.

So I'm all alone (work evenings today) and eating BBQd bratwurst for breakfast.

life is good

Brats for breakfast. Yup, no one else could be at home. :lmao:

It's like I'm looking into a mirror.

I know Jim. You don't want to look in that mirror.

Hey nemie, fist bump congrats on the kids' achievements. Sounds like things are busy but going well. As to the fish, opinion generally likes the picks. The first pick and off season acquisitions were totally for Tannehill. A lot depends on if he can be a franchise QB. Jury is still undecided. Plus they have a few holes to fill so we shall see how it pans out.

Glad you are enjoying the weather. The record heat and following storms broke here a few days ago and it is perfect right now. Except for winds.

Speaking of winds, a note of caution for anyone who goes into the ocean this summer. When the winds are blowing from the East like now, watch out for rip tides. Yesterday two 20 YOs got caught in one. One drowned and the other is in critical condition at the hospital. If you ever find yourself in one, don't fight the current, swim parallel to the beach until you are out of it. And look for warnings posted on the beach. A rip tide almost killed me when I was a teen.

Not a problem. I doubt I'll ever swim in the ocean.
I've already drowned once. And that was enough.

Hey Randall! May be heading to DC this summer. Not sure if you are on the wayish or not. Will let you know when plans are finalized. The negative impact would be the sports tournaments. DD may go to nationals for hoop and I need to figure out the schedule. Hope things are well.

That would be great Jim, let me know the dates and we will make it work.

OK. Internet acting up again. Not able to multi quote so here is a simple response to the latest.

Thanks for the congrats, he's working hard.

NORM! How are ya? Long time no talk. It's almost lobster season again.

Hey Nemie. I was wondering how long it would take for you to find a good shot. It's 1PM, do you know where your credit cards are?:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:I was a lifeguard as a teen and through college. We typically had very few days where the rip tides were real strong, but on those days it was a nightmare to keep everyone aware of the dangers. Thanks for the safety tip. Of course the water here is still around 50 degrees so it's unlikely I'll be in deeper than my ankles.

Seriously thinking of booking the Miami/Pats game in final week. Would be a great time to head to warmer weather. I'll let you know as soon as we are 100% go. Hotel recommendations near the stadium would be lovely (I plan to check them on line after your recommendation so don't tell me Miami Motor Inn is a good option).

No to too bad for a Monday I guess. Star Wars Day, Hawks up 2-0 on the Wild (plenty of hockey still left in this series) and family is all good.

Just once I'd like to see the puck bounce the Wild's way against the Blackhawks.

Enjoy Avengers.
Avengers was real good, we enjoyed it a ton - thanks.

Difference here is the Hawks hit what they are shooting at
That cigar sounds good. Any particular brand?

What is this playoff hockey thing you guys keep going on about anyways?
So sorry for you my friend but I thank you for Toews and Keith and several others.
Hockey is a lot like aaa baseball. If it's all your city has to brag about sporting wise, you probably shouldn't.
Did you say Tuukka was at the Red Sox game? Did he have a broom with him, oops my bad that was the Yankees with the sweep :rolleyes1 :stir:
'Morning all...
A good start on the day. more reasons to smile than not to.
I like when that happens.
Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

This weekend, DD was asked to fill in and play in our AAU hoop state championships. After 8 games in 2 days and some hard fought victories, the team advanced to the final 4 on a couple of weeks. DD played well against the higher level of competition and is hoping for an invite to play in the final 4 and a spot on the roster for next season. We'll see what happens.

DS has pitched 2 games for his high school team so far. 2-0, 11 IP, 12 K's, 1 BB, 1 ER, .782 ERA (not really sure how they calculate that). Pretty good start for him. They have 4 games this week so he is sure to start some time this week. Team is 3-2 in total.

DD softball, we are pretty much getting hammered every time out. It is an 8th grade team (DD is 6th grade), we have 3 players that have never played, 3 6th graders (DD and another 6th grade girl are 2 of top players) and every other team is mostly 8th grade girls. They compete and play hard, but the overall talent level for the other teams is pretty high. Having fun though and DD is getting a lot of pitching and hitting against better competition so some positives.

Sounds like all is going well with the kids - congratulations and enjoy the times :thumbsup2

You got one of our Louisville WRs. If Strong recruited him, then you know he's good. If Petrino recruited him, then you know he's a thug but still a good player. :lmao:

I'm excellent and have references. :lmao:
We are doing well, Jim. Congrats to your offspring on doing well. I'm always up for lobster, although, with CJ's credit card, every season culd be lobster season. :crazy2:

Not sure I ever tried that one. How strong is that one? I smoked different brands many years ago, but am not an aficionado. I'll pick up the occasional, single Maker's Mark cigar at the liquor store, but they are very mild. Not sure I could handle anything stronger. Of course, i have to smoke away from my dds because they tell me I'm going to die.

You can post pictures the old way still, you remember how to do that, don't you?

Actually, no... I never really did that either. Most pics I posted were ripped off google images...

You have a new bar?? I guess I have been away from the boards for far too long. Post some pics. Just restocked the win at our house over the weekend. It was a rough week.:faint:

Yes, built one down in the finished basement. Looks pretty good. See above for reason there are no photos to prove it...

Awesome stuff. Well done to DS!!!

Just stopping by for some late night therapy. Going to quietly go back and read the last 20-30 pages of posts. Move along, move along.

We built ours in October if you remember when finishing the basement. One of the best things we ever did. It's a great place to hang and have friends over. When the kids have sleep overs, the bar is open for shirley temples and some frozen mixed drink(virgin of douse). They get a pretty good kick out of it. We typically stock around 15 different wines and several types of beer. We found it's easier to stock cans of beer with our set up and just a few bottles. i was pretty impressed with the number of beers that are now available in cans when you look for them.

Boy, if this is where you come for therapy it must be rough.:rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

Long time no post....morning guys

Good Morning David! How is the family?

'Morning all...
Another nice day ahead. May those continue for a while.
Of course it may just have something to do with being that much closer to our next trip.

It's a good morning! Sun is shining, Temps on the way up, the force is strong today and my computer is actually working properly. Hope everyone is well. Crazy busy with sports and work. Typical of the spring for me. Prayers to those in need, Congrats where deserved and hope all are well.

There's a lot of good going on in that post.
Congrats to your young'ens for the hard work necessary to create those great outcomes.
Mon and Dad have much to be proud of.

I love the smell of brats in the morning.
Life does sound very good up that way right now.

Thirty pages? My but that sounds painful.
Have you really considered the potential consequences of your actions here?

Long time no post....morning guys
