Yes , it was probably an f1. It was in fullerton ca in the 1970's Really strange for that area.

Been very near them, but have never actually seen one. DW & I were both home sick when our mobile home became quite "mobile" and we heard the "far off locomotive" sound. And then everything stopped. The tornado was actually about 1/2 mile away & obliterated a different mobile home very similar to ours.

On another occasion on the highway in MS we heard on local radio that a tornado was 5 minutes from intersecting a little town - and just then, we saw the sign for that town "5 miles ahead". We tried to take refuge in a rest area, but there were no solid buildings. Not knowing if we were ahead of it or behind it, we pressed on. Things got nasty, but we came out in the clear.

Shortly after things cleared, we spotted a car more than 200 feet from the road wrapped around a tree with a sheet draped over it. We recognized it as a car that had passed us just prior to the rest area

I was at school in the 9th grade. quite a few have touched down around where I live. Plus the Big Palm Sunday Tornado right before I was born,

I have been in a hurricane and that is the worst weather event I ever want to experience. Anytime I see coverage of a tornado I think, “That has got to be the absolute scariest thing ever.” Since moving to Colorado I have learned what a rotational wall cloud is, and why I should fear it.

Earthquakes certainly don't phase me. I live less than a half mile from the Hayward Fault. However the one time I've seen a tornado with my own eyes, it just seemed surreal. It was several miles away, but it certainly looked like a tornado. I didn't hear anything though. I suppose I'd need to be closer for that.

As for dreams, this is totally off the wall, but my kid woke up this morning and asked about getting a toy. We asked what toy, and were told it was something in a dream. How does a parent answer that?

Did you ever figure out what the toy was - something he saw on TV or something he imagined? Maybe you have a future toy inventor on your hands!

No idea. My wife effectively brushed it off with a "how are we supposed to know?"

However, we did have a mild earthquake on Sunday. Just 5 seconds and it was over. Don't think it was a dream. We weren't that close to the epicenter.

I saw one off in the distance when dh and I drove across the US. That was scary enough, but thank G.d, I've never experienced one first hand.
