Do you think Captain EO is coming back?

I think Jacko has finally sailed off into the sunset.

I wish they'd just close the theater - honestly - they don't care enough to update it or come up with anything new.
They could probably shudder the whole pavilion... Just see if the lems coming through the gate notice.

Honey I shrunk the audience ran ridiculously too long...just like the playground over at studios...

I mean - how hard is it for a movie company with about 8 divisions now to make new movies for the parks?

Every nickel is precious - I suppose.

Imagine the outcry if they did shutter the whole pavilion.

Imagine the outcry if they did shutter the whole pavilion.

There would be a furious, 18 hour protest on this board by about 10k people...

And then the wholesale travel companies would continue selling myw tickets to the other 55,000,000 other visitors this yeas...

Aka "nothing"

It still amazes me how they closed wonders of life... With no legitimate explanation... And nobody blinked. It had legitimate value/attractions

Shame on all of us.

I honestly think that only figment saves imagination - as the one thing that the management is still loyal too is brand/IP tie ins.

I think they should re-do the Wonders of Life building as a theater venue. Room for both a live show and a place to do previews. Throw in a QS eating place and it would have a great usefulness.

There is the movie theater venue at DTD but Disney could even put a couple theaters for movies in here? It would probably (and rightfully so) have a cost over and above the Epcot ticket if they were current movies.... or better yet, present classics that are less known (Robin Hood, The Rescuers, Sword in the Stone, Newsies.....)

People would definitely go here as good entertainment, a quick meal and a place to sit and get out of the heat for awhile!!

Your memory is short. There were lots of people who complained about the closing. Not that it made any difference.

Their nickels are precious. But yours and mine aren't.

They should be think about how quickly they can become a negative meme on social media. A laughingstock or a bad guy. And how incredibly hard it will be to get un-memed, once it starts. Like ... "Scumbag Steve shows same movie at his theme park for 30 years ... CHARGES $100".

They're getting near the edge of being a parody of themselves ... like Duff Gardens or "Time Masheen" in Idiocracy.

Well for us We'd love to see Honey I shrunk the audience come back...We all miss that..

Capt. EO....= blagh:crazy2:

I must admit it was fun to watch EO again. But once or twice yes a million times no. They really need to get some new attractions going ones that do not take years to construct. HS is also in a sad state as everything there is old or closed. American Idol was fun and ran it's course but before they closed it they should have had something in mind to replace it. Indiana Jones is fun but stale same show for many years. I used to love HS but now it is literally less than a half day for us sadly. Looking forward to some new attractions!

Although I loved Captain EO, I would rather be able to see it one more time and have it disappear forever, rather than hope it comes back one day. Sadly, since I am there in about a week, I've missed my chance. Tomorrowland preview better be good!

I hope the preview thing doesn't last too long. I remember going to HS/MGM in 2006 (?) and they had a thing on Narnia. It was mostly an extended preview which would probably have been cool if you hadn't seen the movie. As the movie had already been out (maybe even on DVD) it was a complete waste of time. We don't need previews in WDW. My guess is that the average WDW guest knows what is coming out. If they want to advertise their films, they can do that in other places: Magical Express video screens, signs on buses, lobbies, etc. Why waste an attraction that could generate lots of traffic with a preview?

That said, I am glad EO is gone. Never was a big MJ fan. EO was ok but nothing I wanted to see come back in the first place. HISTA was fun but very dated (i.e. nobody under the age of 18 knows what it is). I loved HISTA but I think we can all agree it was time for something new. Yes...we all miss attractions we loved as a kid. I miss Discovery Island and River Country. I also miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. However, I also know the only way to keep people coming back is to update rides. That occasionally means closing down a classic. However, closing a classic for a preview is not ok. Hopefully they find something to put in there soon. Perhaps they are working on something now. Hopefully...

Disney has had more than enough time to come up with something new for this. A friend of mine picked up on these previews as, "Wow Epcot's closing up something else and replacing it with a blatant (non-original) movie commercial and still raising ticket prices."

Well Disneyland has been doing it for like a year now with their captain EO theater.

I know Disney claims it is coming back but I'm not so sure if that's true or not. After seeing this video that goes over the changes to the theater, it seems like they went through too much of a hassle just to bring EO right back. What do you guys think?

I'd be highly surprised. In fact I'm *scared* for this theater as a whole. Okay, so they put a tomorrowland preview in there... but I just read that next they are putting a Inside Out preview... I am really scared this will become a "preview" theater permanently. Really crappy for the "guest experience"... just another area for "commercials". *very* dissapointing. Between that and the Wonders of Life pavillion basically being dead for years, and one of the innoventions pavillions closing... Future World is starting to look pretty sad. Not to mention all the construction going on everywhere... Guest experience is suffering imho. And while it's true ( as per Pete Werner ) that we keep shelling out and going... there *will* be a breaking point... we're a bit more invested because we are DVC members... but that still doesn't count us as a sure thing. We can SELL it and/or just stay there, but spend our time elsewhere...

I agree with those who dislike the idea of the theater being just for previews. We don't travel all the way to Florida and pay way too much to get into parks just to see blatant ads. I can watch those at home.
