the lack of search function is killing me lol. Posted in DL thread by mistake yesterday, thought I'd try here.

We have been to DL & USH four times (and love it!) but admittedly unfamiliar with the rest of the area. DH & I are working on planning a multi-stop 'Halloween' trip and want to be realistic about scheduling.

Refuse to drive in the area so we need to rely on shuttles, town car or maybe Uber (but haven't used yet), would like to keep costs contained.

Initial transportation plans are below, please feel free to offer suggestions as to getting around and what time would be the best to arrive at the parks for the haunts:)

*Fly into Burbank on a Friday = grab taxi or airport shuttle approximately at noon to Universal Hilton for HHN?

Hopefully, BUR is much smaller than LAX and hopefully less traffic. Would allowing an hour after arrival be realistic to reach the hotel? I would hate to be stuck on the highway watching the meter tick as in the traffic we always pass on shuttles/buses on U/DL route

*Transfer to Knotts Berry Farm Hotel on Saturday for the Scare Farm (hotel package if available) = book a van/town car to control the costs?

If I want to be at the hotel in Buena Park by 3 pm what time should I arrange pickup at hotel? Rate offers a late checkout option but could leave earlier. Was thinking a 12:30 pm pickup but no idea of the traffic patterns.

*Sunday onto DL for remainder of stay in CA = taxi or shuttle

didn't seem to be that far apart when driving past. Again, don't want to get stuck in a cab with meter running, not sure if I can grab a shuttle between Knotts & DL.

*Wednesday to SNA for 7 am flight = shuttle or taxi?

What time should we leave hotel? we've always left mid-day on a weekend in the past and left a good 3 hours pre flight.

First, the ride from BUR to the Hilton is around 6 miles. I'd see what's cheaper, a taxi or shuttle. If only 2 of you, I'd think the taxi would still be the fastest and cheapest way. From the Hilton to Knotts, I drove from the Sheraton (which is right next to the Hilton) about the same time of day, and it took me about an hour or a little more than an hour to get to the Grand Californian. So, I'd budge for 1 and 1/2 hours, so late check out may be a good thing. I'd see again if town car or shuttle service or taxi is better. The towncar maybe more expensive, but I assume faster at a fixed price. To go from Knotts to DL is not that long either, I think a taxi would be the best bet. For the airport, I think SNA is around 35 miles away, so I'd find a shuttle service that goes there. I'd leave around 2 and 1/2 hours to be early. I hate late, as I get so nervous.

Have a great trip either way.

I actually like to drive those huge highways and I don't mind flying into LA, last time was 2 years ago. We're going to try to fly into San Diego this time. Only time I ever flew into SD, was almost 18 years ago, and I remember flying between the high rises and people waved to you from the windows as the plane flew by. Kids are hoping they still do that. I don't know.

oh, and a ton of shuttles are listed on the SNA website. I'd check trip advisor or other to see who's the better to use.

thanks lynne, I should've just asked on the Universal board lol. I can't say I remember seeing onsite at USH anytime we were there. I'm told the Hilton & Sheraton are 'down the hill' and walkable. pulled it up on satellite and they don't look that far but it can be deceiving.

appears traffic not as bad as I had feared on a Saturday from USH down to Knotts or DL = yea!

I have the name of towncar company we typically use from SNA somewhere, need to pull it out. made a mistake of taking a shuttle last trip since just 2 of us and there were so many stops took a really long time to finally get to DL.

I'm starting to lean towards just adding another day on front end of GC @ DL and taxi taxi up to Knotts. I'd like to think there will be cabs waiting after Knott's scare farm @ 2 am, if not it's a long walk lol.

I cannot imagine waving at somebody from a plane lol...take pictures!

It was totally walkable. In fact, from the Sheraton we stayed at, we had to take an elevator or stairs up to the Hilton, and then cross the street via a walking overpass. I'd say 10 or so minutes. It was awesome. I'd stay at either hotel if we went to USH again.

Oh I bet you're not the only ones that may need a taxi after the park closes. Just ask the hotel before you leave for a phone number for the taxi. I am sure they are around most of the day and night.

/\ another good idea. will have to figure out if uber is big out there as a fail safe

. From BUR to your hotel I would check with your hotel to see if they offer a hotel shuttle for free or a low cost. From Hilton hotel to Knotts hotel I suggest a shuttle as a taxi could get pricey in LA traffic. My recommendation is Supershuttle. I have used them several times & highly recommend them. There is a discount here: http://anaheimoc.org/coupons. From the Knotts area to DL maybe check out ART people on here highly recommend them see here for more info: http://rideart.org. And I would suggest to take Supershuttle to SNA as we'll. enjoy your trip:flower:

GenGen - thank you! That map is a great source of information.

I used super shuttle in the past from SNA & the DL express bus from the hotel, which i believe was more expensive pp.

I read the blog re the train version to Anaheim here somewhere, a good & funny ready & likely a great options for locals. I'm just not comfy with so many transfers on public transportation. Nothing like dragging a couple of large suitcases around LA area to say I'm a clueless tourist.8-)
