Disney Too Regimented 2

On Friday, April 24th my wife and I went to Magic Kingdom for the day. Afterwards I commented that we have made 15+ Disney trips since the early 80's and I thought FP was taking away from creativity in a Disney trip. FP was forcing people into choosing rides resulting in loner lines than before they had FP. The crowd was rated a 6 that day.

Last Friday, May 1st my wife and I went to Epcot for the day and found a major difference. The crowd was rated a 5 but FP does not affect Epcot in the same way because all the lesser attraction in Epcot were still empty. That was not the case in Magic Kingdom. In Epcot, Ellen, France, Canada, Figment, Mexico were still 5 minute or less or next showing waits. Now Epcot does make you select Soarin or Fast Track so we chose Soarin and skipped Fast Track. But I am sure after we used our first FP we could have booked Fast Track for later that day. I saw a post where many people were complaining about the new Frozen Attraction being placed in Epcot. Many posters felt it did not fit Epcot and should have been in MK or Movie Studios. But from a crowd standpoint, it is a perfect fit in Norway since the countries are still pretty much ignored attraction wise. Frozen will provide Epcot w a lure away from MK and also drive the younger crowds into the countries.

Uh, no. It should have been the other way around. Also, those attractions you're talking about don't come close to really anything at the MK in terms of demand. Also, even though you chose Soarin' instead of TEST Track, you would have had to use all 3 of your FP+'s and then you may then and only then go to a kiosk in that park (in your case EPCOT) and chose your 4th FP+.

This is why I think it's kind of dumb that people choose Wishes FP+ for one of their choices bc they can't then get their 4th FP+ that day til after Wishes is over and if the park closes that night after Wishes, they got kind of gypped.

Twizzle: Once I used my first FP, I was able to book another FP before I used the other 2 original FP. You do not need to use all 3 before booking number 4.

Is this something new? Because you definitely could not do that before. Your 3 pre-booked FP's had to be used/expired in order to get the 4th and so on.

Well I was able to but I also encountererd a problem. I had a 9:05 for spaceship earth and It was down. So Disney sent me an email saying I could go ahead and book another FP. We did but we were still able to do Spaceship Earth with FP later in the day. So maybe because there was a ride problem, that allowed us to book number 4 before we used 2 and 3. I just assumed because #1 was removed we were able to book 4

That would be pretty big news here if it was the case. You were only able to schedule at that point because your other attraction went down. As of right now, you have to use all 3 before having access to a 4th.

You were really just rescheduling your 3rd.

Wrong. Yours was a special situation because you were rescheduling a FP not getting a whole new extra one.

Thank you @tinkerbella16 and @mom2rtk :thumbsup2

As I understand the FP+ system.....

Before using your first FP+ of the day on, let's say Test Track, cancel your other two FP+.

Then after riding TT, you can schedule what amounts to your 4th FP+ for Test Track.

I agree to an extent about the increased regimen. One of the most magical thing you could do during Legacy Fastpass was find a party with the exact number of extra fast passes you had. Once I was getting off Space Mountain and found a couple that was about to put their ticket into the machine to get Fastpass and I said "Hey you guys want to go on now?" and I swear the girl broke into tears and was so grateful. That's the kind of Magic that FP+ cannot deliver.

Or, instead of blowing the Tier 1 FP+ reservation when the park opens just to try for another Tier 1 FP+ reservation, you could just ride the non-FP+ reservation ride at rope drop, use the Tier 1 FP+ later in the day when the lines are longer and still be able to use your other two FP+ reservations.

Yes, but the issue being outlined was getting another Tier-1.

Waiting the two additional hours and utilizing your #2 & 3# FP+ will limit the availability of Tier-1 by the time you've used #2 & #3.

There will more likely be a FP+ for Test Track and/or Soarin' available when searching at 9-10am (#1 FP window), than between 11:15am-12pm (the earliest window when a person would have utilized their #3 FP).

Do you have to use all three of your FP+ or can you just let them expire?
