Would the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort be a Decent Place to stay? We don't want to stay onsite and our budget is limited.

Actually, the Best Western is in fact on Disney property. It is just not a "Disney" resort.

We have stayed here several times over the years and have found the hotel to be fine. Look, it's not a Disney resort so it's not over the top Disney everywhere you look. However, it is clean, has free shuttle services to the parks, good location and has decent prices even during the peak times of the year. All the rooms at the Best Western have their own private balcony which is nice. A decent restaurant for breakfast (nothing fancy), but they do have a cook making omelets and pancake/waffles which is nice :). Bar/Lounge area, quick service stop & go for snacks, etc.

The only thing you would not get here is Early Entry or Extra Hours as you would at a Disney resort. And of course a MagicBand would not be your room key.

The Downtown Disney resorts are very good resorts to stay at for those that may not want to stay at "Disney" resorts or have the $$$$ to fork over to stay at some of the pricier Disney resorts. I have personally stayed at all the resorts on Hotel Plaza Blvd. and enjoyed each of my stays at all of them. Was there ever issues? Of course, but you'll get that anywhere from time-to-time. They all have good location to Downtown Disney and are for the most part, walking distance for most people.

I personally do not think you would not enjoy your stay at any of these properties.

Thank you. We probably wont spend much Time there anyway.
Which of the hotels Downtown is the best in your opinion?
You are right I don't want to spend hundreds more for just Magicbands and Extra hours

You can still use a MagicBand as others for Fast Passes & Park Entry. It would just not be your room key as at a Disney Resort.

I stay in Best Westerns when I travel for my job and like them very much, so I am bias there. However, the Double Tree, Hilton and Buena Vista Palace are nice hotels. As is the B Resort which was recently redone with a more "modern" vibe to it.

The best pool resorts would be the Wyndham LBV and Buena Vista Palace for the Downtown Disney resort hotel properties in my opinion.

Wyndham LBV Pool Area is probably the best. Especially for the little ones

Looks good too. I am overwhelmed with choices ;)
Soo Many places to Chose from.
Also has anyone ever encountered bedbugs? I am soo scared, of course I will check the room. Hopefully we wont encounter them. Have never seen any before

Just a quick note about DTD Hotels: The Hilton (only) does actually get Extra Magic Hours. If the price is in your range, that could be something to consider.

Thank you, I know. I don't think we will make it there that early. I don't know yet how the kids will react with the jetlag. We've never gone on a vacation yet with more of an hours time difference. The difference in price for the different hotels is more than a one day admission price;)

Years ago I booked a one night stay at Best Western LB. I got it bidding on priceline $70/night. I read reviews and got scared. My flight arrived at MCO at 9:00pm, so I didnt want to pay $400+ that night at Disney's Polynesian. I figured it was one night and I would survive.

We arrived around 9:30ish and when I opened the door to our room, I immediately saw fireworks out the balcony doors, from Epcot. We went out to the balcony and watched for a little bit, then turned around and went straight out the door to Olive Garden down the street. When we got back, we got right into our PJs and went to sleep. The next morning, I got up early and really started looking around the room for all the complaints I read online prior to our trip. I found absolutely nothing to complain about. I went downstairs to look around the lobby and grounds. I was amazed by the casual dining options and the beautiful landscape. I also saw shuttles arriving to go to the parks. The pool area was a decent size and plenty of chairs around. I went back to the room and woke up the rest of the family for breakfast. My original plan was to get out of there as soon as possible and check in at the Poly. My daughter asked if she could swim before leaving. Why not! She went for a swim, then we poked around in the gift shops. I was in no rush to leave. If I had know this place was going to be so nice, I would have stayed more nights and saved a lot of $$$.

We are planning our next trip 09/2015. Our first night will be at Best Western again, then we are checking out of the Poly 2 days prior to leaving Orlando and staying at Best Western again to relax before heading home :)

This is a great thread / great info. For our next trip we're looking to do a Sun - Sun stay at a condo villa (not sure where yet). To extend our trip we were thinking we'd fly in Fri evening and stay Fri & Sat at a decent, reasonably priced hotel. Looks like Best Western Lake BV will fit the bill!

All the hotels along Hotel Plaza Blvd. are good places to stay. As I said before, yes ... They are not over the top Disney, but for the price, location and other perks. They are good resorts to stay at. Before we moved to the area, we would always stay at the Best Western for a week on holiday. Their staff were always great and we had never had any issues at all with our stays.
