Can I bring small carryon suitcase on ME?

I was just wondering if I could bring my carry-on suitcase on the Magical Express with me. As in, have it right with me on the bus? Or does it need to be stored underneath?

Just trying to save as much time as I can :)

Depends on what size carry on bag it is. I bring my carry on tote bag onto the bus with me....then it goes on the floor at my feet, or stays in my lap. But...a true carry on bag won't fit on the bus and will have to be stowed beneath the bus. There are no storage areas for bags on the bus.

A suitcase? No. But you can bring a smaller weekend bag.
Thats incorrect, I do it lall the time because the Bus Drivers play games and want everyone off the bus before they remove anything from under the bus. Mine is a 22 inch with wheels. I put in in front of me where my legs are .

I always carry my carryon bag onto DME. Some of the busses do have overhead open storage but I always either keep it on my lap or on the floor. As long as it's a regulation (airline regulation) sized bag, you don't have to store it under the bus.

I've been on ME buses that have open bins above the seats for storage.

True, but NONE of the buses we've taken have had above the seat shelves/bins that would be big enough to fit a roller bag. The under seat space is also very small. If a bag won't fit on your lap, it will probably have to go under the bus.

I found the above the seat bins are really only good for something like a jacket; it is nearly impossible to get anything bigger up there because the netting that holds thing in has next to no give in it.

I have taken carry-on luggage onto the bus. But it is is going at your feet (as in where your feet and lower legs should be going), on your lap, or, if the bus is not too full, you may be able to use the seat next to you.

That's true. But if it's a true carry-on (roll aboard bag), that you are using when not doing any checked luggage, it isn't going to come close to fitting in those overheard bins. They will fit a totebag or jacket, but nothing much larger. I have seen guests try to bring larger rolling bags on the bus with them and the driver stops them. Then, they argue about it, saying they will put it on the seat next to them! The driver just won't allow it.

As stated above I bring my 22 inch roller board on the bus. Please stop telling people they can't Or the bus driver won't allow it as that is not true I have done it many times.

Are you saying that goofy4tink is lying?

The only things they have let us on with have been small gym bags/backpacks. They have "forced" us to put our rolling carryon under the bus, we figured it was just so they could ask for the tip. The few times they have been more relaxed with that for us was when we arrived really late. I'd try to bring it with me and just be prepared to wait that extra 2-3 minutes if they do make you store it below.

It may or may not be allowed, depending on how much room is available. How is that?

A true carry on won't fit into the small overhead space on the bus.
I put it where my legs are as stated above.
Sheeesh does anyone actually read the posts or are they so anxious to say no they post without reading others experiences. I refuse to play the drivers games of everyone has to exit befoe he can remove the luggage, so I take mine on board.

I dont' know how they forced you because the one time a driver tried to take my bag I told him I was taking it on the bus because I was not playing his tip game and that was that . I don't mind tipping but the game of everyone has to be off the bus before they remove the bags and then they take the large ones off first I don't play and this happens to be a battle I choose to fight. If I choose to sit with it on my lap that is my choice and they can't stop me .

Forgive me if I seem snippy, I probably am but I lost someone today and I am ornery and then there is the wine. I stand by the fact I do take by roller board on the bus but everything else is up for grabds

Excuse me but I don't know where goofy4tink got her information I am speaking from personal experience 2-5 times a year not from watching what other people do.

I also use DME several times a year, since they started running. And every single time that someone has tried to bring a full size carry on bag on board the bus, the driver has said something. Has every single person listened to that driver? No, they have not. I am merely stating what the drivers will tell you...and whether or not people like it, the bus driver is sort of the 'authority figure' for that bus. Do you 'have' to do what they say? Evidently not.
Do I tip the driver? Sometimes. I have had the driver stow my bag for me, yet that driver got no tip. It was one of those 'hostage' buses...no one was allowed off until all bags had been taken out. And...the driver continually mentioned that gratuities were very gratefully accepted!!! As if the signage above his head wasn't enough. But, I've also tipped drivers who never touched a bag of mine! They were so pleasant and informative...they made the ride much more pleasant. I have no problem handing out a few dollars for someone who has gone the extra mile to make my experience nicer.

So, I'm getting my info from my numerous experiences riding the DME bus. I choose not to argue or to make a scene with the driver. I also don't really enjoy sitting in my seat, crammed in with a suitcase on my lap. If there is an empty seat next to me, fine. But that's nothing I can count on.....it's worth a few dollars to be more comfortable. And that whole hostage bus thing? They are not supposed to be doing that anymore.....Disney got a ton of complaints about that practice. Tipping is supposed to be voluntary...no one is forced to tip. I refuse to be held hostage to the tipping game as well...but, I'm not going to be uncomfortable or go out of my way to get my bag on the bus with me.

I'm also sorry for your recent loss....my heartfelt sympathies.

We read. Where do you put your legs?
