OT: Minivan DVD player

I know this is off topic, but I thought this might be a good place to go to ask this question: My wife and I just bought a used minivan. It's in great shape and is pretty well loaded with everything you could want (and more). That said, the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is the DVD player. There is a 6 disc DVD/CD player (below the regular CD player) and if you go to put a movie in it takes the disc about 1/2 way in 2-3 times out and then says disc error. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it something fixable? Or does the unit need to be replaced? There are A/V inputs attached to the unit so we could just plug in a portable DVD player if needed, but this would obviously be easier. Thanks for any advice!

Have you taken it back to the dealership or checked the owners manual?

We purchased it from a private owner whose dad had been the owner originally. He recently passed away and she was trying to get rid of it. Finally got it to play (turns out we were impatient loading the discs...not used to a disc changer in the car I guess). However, now we ran across a new dilemma. We had 3 CDs loaded and they all played fine. When the 3rd disc finished it would go back to the first one. I decided to make sure the DVD and video screen work. DVD played fine. I ejected it and it came out. Then nothing. Not a single disc will engage. Nothing will eject. It's not even trying to load or anything.
