Help me find the perfect camera bag please?

I'm trying to find one where it's safe to put in my camera with the lens attached.

I currently have a Lowepro Adventura 140 and I haven't used it yet. I like how small it is except for the fact that I can't fit a water bottle anywhere. I'm getting this bag for Disney AND beyond Disney as a general camera bag.

I have a D3200 with an 18-55mm lens (which I use the most) and a 55-200mm lens.

I don't want a backpack because I want easy access to my camera.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

:rotfl2:Excuse my laughing, however I can prove there is no perfect bag by looking in my closet!!! What type of bag do you like to carry? By looking at the Adventura its a messenger style bag with an expandable side pocket where you could fit a water bottle. There are many types of bags that you can carry on your back that swing around for easy side access. Personally, my go to bag is my Lowepro Fastpack 200. Its a backpack style with side access. To get the camera, all I do is take it off one arm swing it around in front of me to gain access to the side. The same with my Lowepro Sling shot 200 aw. It just swings in front with a side access to the camera. I'm a Lowepro guy. I usually never have to gain access to my camera because I'm always carrying it out, ready to go. The only time it is in the bag is during transport to my location where I'm going to shoot. When I leave my room at WDW the camera is out and everything else is in my camera backpack.

I can say that after 20 years of photography, I am still looking for the perfect camera bag :tilt: One thing I have learned is that if you want to be satisfied, you have to go out and choose a bag for yourself because every person's wants and needs and likes and dislikes will be different!

That said if all you want it for is your equipment and a water bottle, you could look at the Lowepro Passport Sling or the Photo Sport Shoulder. They are both messenger style bags. They are large enough for your equipment and will hold a water bottle in an extra outside pouch. The inside pouch for the camera is removable so you can take the bag and leave the equipment at the hotel etc.

If the only reason you don't want a backpack is easy access to the camera, then you should rethink that. Gianna'sPapa listed a few bags that are backpack style and over equally easy access to your equipment than a messenger bag. The pro is that the sling- or backpack will be a lot easier on your back and shoulders than a messenger back if you intend to carry it the whole day at Disney.

Haha well I'm going to be a recent college graduate so I want this camera bag to last me a while at least ;)

And yeah the Adventura has a water bottle side pocket but it would only be able to fit a mini water bottle and not my Brita Sports water bottle.

Thanks for the suggestions so far; I'll look at them! :)

Hi,

Obviously as others have stated, the 'Perfect Camera Bag' may or may not exist, depending on you & your needs? But from the many bags i have owned or own, I too like the messenger style and I would recommend going to your local camera shop and test a few on for size and protection! However, I've found that a few of my favs are [in no specific order]:

1- Tamrac Rally [I own the 5 and 7 I believe?]: the 5 being a med size, where the 7 is much larger. i like these because of their simplicity. velcro flap, and decent pads.

2- Vanguard Heralder [I own the 22 and 38?]: again, 22 is med size w the 38 larger. I like these because they have a velcro flap with a quick zipper top opening and tripod straps.

3- Timbuk2 Snoop: I own the small. A bit expensive, but very inconspicious as it looks like a plain old messenger bag that is carried alot around NYC

Good luck in finding what is right for you!! And trust me, once you find one that seems right, you will def find another then another then another...its addicting!!! The good thing for me is that my wife has her owl collection of designed pocketbooks so she cant complain about my bag collection...camera maybe, but not the bags!!!

KUNGALOOSH!!!
