Couple questions: I was told that they are converting them on to the magic bangs? Is this true?

Also are you able to use the disability passes on high attractions like meeting elsa and anna?

Lastly, I'm looking on the website, my sons in a wheelchair full time completely disabled. I read that some rides he remaining in wheelchair and the others that they transfer from scooter/wheelchair to wheelchair? Is that basically for those riding a scooter? Will he be able to remaining in his wheelchair? I think one of the rides was the It's a small world ride or the Aladdin ride if I'm remember right just to name a couple I remembered labeled like that.

Any help or information would be wonderful!! Thanks so much!!!

Yes, the Disability Access Service program will no longer be a paper card but incorporated into the Magic Band or ticket of the DAS-user. This is expected to begin at WDW this Thursday and is already in place at the DL/DCA parks.

DAS can be used at attractions with FP+ and standby lines -- be that a ride, show or character meet & greet; not parades or fireworks. You may find this thread valuable: http://www.disboards.com/threads/wd...pdated-4-25-14-stamps-at-attractions.3178976/ The first post has details of the DAS program, the rest was just discussion and can be ignored.

This thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/di...disabled-1st-trip-next-trip-wish-trip.595713/ will be of interest as well, particularly post #11 has info about accessibility at various rides and which require transfers.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thank you so much!! I'm so excited to go....I have a 4 year old as well and I just can't wait for them both to be able to ride the same ride together. WIll mean the world for him to be able to act like a kid per say :)

I'm mostly familiar with DLR, but there are 2 different transfer requirements. On some rides guests using scooters much transfer to a wheelchair. IASW and TSMM can't accommodate a scooter but do have wheelchair vehicles. There are other rides that can't accommodate a wheelchair and for those the guest must transfer to a ride vehicle. If you look at the park map you can see that IASW shows a scooter and an arrow pointing to someone seated in a wheelchair. If you look at Mad Tea Party it shows someone getting out of a wheelchair, so that means guests must transfer out of their mobility device and sit in the ride vehicle for that ride. But if you look at POTC it shows an arrow pointing from a scooter to someone getting out of a wheelchair. That means that guests transfer from scooters to a wheelchair for the queue and then transfer out of the wheelchair for the ride, which means your son wouldn't be able to stay in the wheelchair for that one and would need to sit in the boat. I know it can be confusing, hopefully there is a WDW sticky thread that someone can link to.

I too have a child who is wheelchair bound and I don't know if you are aware but if your child's disability is only mobility related, he will not be eligible for DAS because it is assumed his needs are met by his wheelchair. Are there any other reasons why your son can't handle the regular queue?

Yes.
That is an important point. The thread about DAS that lanejudy posted a link to explains it.

He also has temperature control issues I was finally able to talk to the disability line at Disney and between here and her information I got most of everything answered. I'm even more excited now to go bc there is so much more he can ride and will actually get to feel like a normal kid :D When I was told we as a family could ride some of the rides with him....I'll admit there was tears. Come on November! lol!
