Thinking about Sea World...

We're doing 3 nights at Disney and are considering doing a day at Sea World before. I just don't know if I can justify another $500 or so for it. I haven't been there since I was a little girl, so it's been many years. If we would do it, we'd do Sea World for the day, then head to POP at WDW to spend the night, so we can do MK the next day. If we don't do Sea World, we'd just hang out at the hotel and chill out there or check out the other WDW resorts.

So, the point I'm trying to find out?
Sea World. Worth it for $500 if we don't want to be there late?

To me personally, I would choose to spend the money for an extra day at the WDW parks since the price to add days to a ticket goes down so much after the first couple of days. But that is driven by my budget. If I had the discretionary funds and knew I wouldn't be back in Orlando for a while, I would definitely do it.

Worth is so subjective. We personally don't see the value of the Disney parks in their current state, so for us, none of those parks are "worth it"......yet millions of others flock there every year. Everyone's criteria of worth is vastly different.

If you're only going to devote one day to SeaWorld (and its not a full open-to-close day), and that day is stretching your budget, then I'd probably personally take a pass. The fact that you have paid a significant amount to visit may distort your enjoyment while you're there.

I also think a "down day" at the resort is often good vacation therapy.

That said, Seaworld is an AWESOME park (one of my favourites in Orlando...and I would rank it above every Disney park except MK) and well worth a visit. The shows are incredible, the coasters are amazing, the exhibits are gorgeous, and the pace is so relaxed ... its a whole different theme parkk experience. There's more than enough to see and do to fill more than a day. If I had the opportunity, interest, and financial ability to add it to a vacation, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Thank you for the replies. It's still up in the air, but very good points! It will probably be a last minute decision for us since there aren't any extra reservations that would need made.

Im like you. I can't see paying 100 per person when I could do an extra day at disney for say 10 dollars a person.

We ended up doing a 5 day Disney cruise last year and in order to make it a week long trip we book a special through the seaworld site. I think we paid around 450 for a 2 night stay plus 7 consecutive days at seaworld and aquatic. The kids loved it. I would see if you could do something like that. Maybe like 2 vacations in one.

I'd love to do that! That would definitely make it worth it....we just don't have the time, unfortunately. We're staying with some family down in Florida for the rest of the time. That's why we're only doing 3 nights at Disney... :( I always try to fit in as much as I can and tend to "overbook" things sometimes LOL

Same quandary here---have our WDW passes but DS5 REALLY wants to do SW! So I am planning to get the Fun passes for us (good till end of year) and we will try to get back again later in the year...any chance that might work for your family? I'm also not sure how the annual passes work but if you would head back within a year that might be an option. Have a great time!

I don't think that would work this trip, but will DEFINITELY be looking into that option for next trip!!!

SeaWorld is my family's favorite Orlando park, so it's a must do for us on every trip. Also, if we are in Orlando for a full week, we usually do two days at SeaWorld taking advantage of the special offer (go to the customer service desk and get tickets for a second day within seven days for $15 pp). // For all the parks, though, Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld your best option economically if you like doing more than one day at a family of parks is to focus on a particular park family. Disney discounts really start on day 4 and more -- We these days usually just do one day at Disney. Sounds like you are doing lots of days at Disney, so if another day their sounds fun, that's the economical option for you on this trip as others have said. // Universal has attractive pricing after day 1 -- We like their parks, but can hit what we want to do in one day lol (many people like to do three days there) -- And SeaWorld again big discount for a second day // also attractive pricing for combo for the SeaWorld park family -- e.g. Do Discovery Cove and you can get Busch Gardens, Aquatica, and SeaWorld as pretty economical add ons -- could make a nice Orlando trip. And they offer combination pricing for more than one of their park too that saves some dollars if you are interested in more than one.

Our last vacation was a party at Disney (that was our only activity there), a one day park hopper at Universal, two days at SeaWorld, and two resort days lol -- so many ways to do Orlando.

Is your family in FL SeaWorld passholders? If so, they can buy a day tickets for $45 for you on seaworld passholder webste. AAA member? $72 adults weekend, $62 weekday.

They also have packages, last year was $350 for 2 adults, 1 child: 2 days in park, all you can eat, and hotel can't remember if it was 1 or 2 nights and if you stay at select hotels you get (copied from seaworld.com): FREE SHUTTLE, FREE SIGNATURE SHOW SEATING, FREE QUICK QUEUE (Front-of-the-line ride access - one time per ride) FREE BEHIND-THE-SCENES RESCUE TOUR, EARLY ENTRY.

We recently let out Disney annual passes expire and exploring the other Orlando offerings. My 4 year old misses some Disney rides and Mickey, but she loved Sea World asked to go back just today. Universal has also been a big hit.

No they aren't, but if they were, we'd take advantage of that in a heartbeat! :)

We were in the same boat last year. I really want to go to Sea World because I have never been before but I thought that $500 to go was a little much. I ended up adding an extra day at the parks at Disney World for much cheaper. I still want to try Sea World though!

A single, stand alone day at any of the parks versus adding a day to any multi day ticket (Disney, Universal, SeaWorld) is going to be very expensive in comparison. Its always easier on the wallet to add an additional day to the park family you're already visiting than a single day elsewhere, as the price per day on multi-day tickets is a fraction of the one-day cost.

That said, if you're going to add a single day on to an existing trip itinerary, SeaWorld is usually your most cost-effective option (you won't ever find a single day Disney ticket sold at a discount.....EVER.....and Universal is pretty darn rare anymore as well). SeaWorld often offers discounted tickets for weekday admission, or with the all day dining plan added on, via their website. AA is often a good resource for ticket discounts too. SeaWorld also have a huge sale on Black Friday (their annual "Blue Friday" sale) where there have been substantial savings on single day tickets, annual passes, tours, Quick Queue, and more. Finding those SW ticket deals just takes a little research and patience.
