My TA and I are calling tomorrow. Wish me luck...... ;) This will definitely make us think twice before doing a BB. If they won't let us take days off we'll just cancel. I guess they are banking on booking our room for 7 days if we cancel?

I will update everyone tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I am so sorry you had this happen!

Thinking of you today! Hope that all worked out well...:goodvibes

I was hoping the RO discount announced today would go through November and not just through August. But the good news is at least GF was included in the 30% tier.

I was initially thinking that I would call and add FD and then if RO came out for November change to that discount. But I really don't want FD so I think I'm just going to rely on historical Fall discounts and stay optimistic that a RO offer will be released in August for the Fall!

Thanks for sharing that info loveshak! :thumbsup2 I just saw the new releases and was coming over here to share the info with my fellow GF fans!::yes::

Can anyone tell me if the vanity area of the bathrooms has a door or a curtain? (GF resort..not villas)

Thanks

Because of the configuration of the room.... the outer vanity/sink/dressing area having a door way..but not a door that closes..still seems very distinctly separated from the sleeping area of the room...and also offers some measure of privacy....

:wave:Hey MickeyNut!

~ New Disney room /dining offers.. I see that loveshak who is really on the ball..already gave a heads up this morning...but I thought I would add some details..help all of my fellow GF fans with their Disney math! ..free dining..is offered 8/28 to 10/2, 10/25 to 10/31, 11/8 to 11/19 and 12/15 to 12/21...I think from what I read this needs to be at least a 6 night 7 day package...for more specifics I would check out the details on the Disney web site...we are not well versed in FD..because IMO when staying deluxe the R/O offers are a better value...dates seem pretty chopped to me...don't really remember that in years past..but I am not sure...lol...R/O offer is as ls said 30% at the GF :woohoo:...8/15 to 10/3...interestingly AKL CL, BC and CR are only 20%...never seen a discount of only 20% at any of the deluxes during any of the R/O offers before..lowest that I've seem is 25%...The spring offer I believe GF was 25% and the Beach Club was the full 30%...wonder what made that change....last year our CR stay was 25% while most of the other deluxes was 30%....I guess if I am thinking about another MK split I would choose GF/Poly ....HTH with anyone looking to book trips in the early fall...crowd wise it really is such a nice time to visit the world....:goodvibes ....

Hope that all of my fellow GF fans are having a magical Monday...princess: preppy GF gal who is sporting a pretty new Pandora bracelet..its always about the food...but it might be about the Pandora charms too...lol....::yes:::wizard::goodvibes

So I was only able to get RO discount for lagoon view even though I wanted garden. I want first floor preferably in conch key.. Is this possible does anyone know?

I keep trying to call but only get busy signal.

Blue - I'm totally obsessed with my WDW planning this year and on my to-do list is to watch for RO discounts. I am on it until I can get that discount LOL!

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but your question did get me thinking! I didn't think about what buildings/views would be included in the RO discount! I've just been looking at if GF has been included in the last few offers that were released this year or not, and what % tier. Is it typical for WDW to include the main building rooms in the GP RO? Does anyone know?

I wasn't looking at main building so I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing them there on the list when I booked.

Well our room wasn't available for the FD offer :( DH insisted to switch to AKL to enjoy the discount. So we are now there Nov 10-19. And at GF (hoping for room offer?!) for the 19-21 for MVMCP. I said there was no way I wasn't being in the MK area for after the party!

I spent almost 2 hours on hold before getting through to someone. I thought it was only for Visa holders today, the general public thing had me literally running home from what I thought was going to be my leisurely coffee at starbucks this morning!

Oh no! That would totally mess up my plans!!

Sorry :(. Definitely look cause I could be wrong. I know outer garden view was not available cause that is what I wanted. I remember all other outers including club level but that was all I remember seeing.

Well I'd rather be prepared now than find out when the Fall RO are released! So thanks! Hopefully though the Fall will have more options (I say that being really, really optimistic)!!

No such luck. I am so glad I read this thread so I was prepared for the bad news. I'm not sure what we'll do. We can afford to go for 7 nights, but we really don't need that much time. If late fall discounts come out over the summer I may run the numbers for 5 days and cancel this reservation. I'm also going to keep an eye on the Four Seasons- if they run that stay 4 days get one night free we may do that. Or we may just go for 7 nights. Pretty crappy customer service- I am so irritated part of me just wants to say screw you Disney and cancel but I will sleep on it for awhile.

Wow! I am shocked right now by everything I am hearing! Maybe I do need to have my dog registered as a therapy dog because right now I need it! First Disney changes the policy on dropping days on a reservation, and now it sounds like they are drastically reducing the number and category of rooms available on an offer. I am so depressed!

Loveshak, I can tell you that RPC has been included in the RO discounts in the past, but right now I feel like I can't trust anything that I know to be true from the past because Disney keeps changing everything!
And BLUE, I can't figure out what they are doing with the lower discounts (rotating among resorts) either?? I have seen 25% at GF before several times, but it seems to be switching to other resorts a lot more. It's so strange to me that BC is only 20% now since I got 37% on my upcoming trip...which is why we couldn't pass it up! Yes, that is an AP rate, but it's still higher than what they have offered in a long time (which is why I'm so confused by these new changes). I have always considered RO discounts to be better on deluxe resorts too (especially RPC) but it sounds like they are limiting everything now and you will be lucky to get anything (FD or RO)! I think I'll go hug my dog now:)

Dispro - I hope that for the Fall RO offer that RPC is included!! Please, please, please pixie dust!! pixiedust:

:wave:Hey MickeyNut!

~ New Disney room offers..R/O offer is as ls said 30% at the GF :woohoo:...8/15 to 10/3...interestingly AKL CL, BC and CR are only 20%...never seen a discount of only 20% at any of the deluxes during any of the R/O offers before..lowest that I've seem is 25%...The spring offer I believe GF was 25% and the Beach Club was the full 30%...wonder what made that change....last year our CR stay was 25% while most of the other deluxes was 30%....

Hi Blue :wave2:

Unfortunately, both AKL CL and CR CL are often offered at just 20% (I price those 2 often....LOL). AKL standard & pool views and CR GW & tower rooms are usually in the 30% category, but AKL savanna views & CL and CR CL are usually 20% :(. I can sort of see why CR CL is (more times than not) included in the lower discount (due to popularity with proximity to MK), but I have yet to figure out why AKL CL is always offered with a lower discount when WL CL is usually the higher 30% :confused3. I would figure WL CL would be lower since it's located in the MK area, while AKL is kind of isolate, but I guess I must be off on my thinking....lol.

So I was only able to get RO discount for lagoon view even though I wanted garden. I want first floor preferably in conch key.. Is this possible does anyone know?

I keep trying to call but only get busy signal.

I can't help with your question, but wanted to say if you really want GV, keep trying as sometimes availability does change. This isn't to say that a GV will definitely become available at a later date, but it doesn't hurt to check ;).

Blue - I'm totally obsessed with my WDW planning this year and on my to-do list is to watch for RO discounts. I am on it until I can get that discount LOL!

Good luck pixiedust:.

As Dispro1 posted, RPC is usually included in discounts :). However, with all of the changes Disney has been making lately, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the choices became very limited.

Good luck with a GF discount for the second part of your stay :wizard:.

I was also surprised to see the FD offer today as it usually is offered to Disney Visa holders first .

I'm sorry it didn't work out :(. I agree it's best to sleep on your decision, but I do know that it is very frustrating. I think a lot of people will be cancelling and booking elsewhere (just my opinion).

It's so strange to me that BC is only 20% now since I got 37% on my upcoming trip...which is why we couldn't pass it up!

I wonder if the BC being included in the lower discount is due to the room and CL lounge refurb :confused3.

Hi all! Stayed at the GF for the first time last week. What an amazing resort!! Top notch CM's there from housekeeping to management and everyone in between. Hoping to get back this fall if possible. If not, we'll do a return in the spring again. :) The theme is not our favorite. But the atmosphere and attitudes of the guests and CMs is so pleasant I can't imagine not staying there again. :) Never seen so many happy, polite, agreeable people in one place before.

.

I really think Disney needs to be careful. There are some really great hotel options for people who want a luxurious Disney trip. The Waldorf and especially the Four Seasons are both great and are priced lower than the GF. Obviously being right next to Magic Kingdom is amazing, but there are some definite pluses to staying at the FS. We are almost to the point where we don't really benefit from the 180 day dining reservation perk. It helped us today because I was able to get BBB and CRT, but by the next trip we'll be out of that phase. If we defect to the FS we'll rent a car which means we may eat some meals off property. Disney would've made a lot more money off us just by letting us take two days off our trip.

I am being dramatic, but it used to be so easy dealing with Disney. I just find all of this disconcerting.

Hi HappyMomma! That's awesome that you had such a great experience on your first stay at GF. Our first stay at the GF will be in November and I love reading these positive posts to get me excited for our trip this Fall :lovestruc

I agree with you and don't think you are being dramatic at all. There are plenty of other options for a luxurious Disney vacation and I think a lot of people might start researching those options if changing Disney reservations becomes too challenging.

You are going to have a great stay as the GF is an amazing resort! Hope you will report back after your stay :).
