Babnanas 11: "Boo-boo's are OUT, Toast is IN….

Has anyone seen spring??!......it was here, but now it's gone. There were snow flurries -- SNOW!! -- when I went for my walk yesterday afternoon.

::sigh::

Come back, Spring, come BACK!!! :cold:

(PiO, are you hogging the warmth, hon?....cuz, y'know, it's time to let go down there... )

....I got thrown under the bus by my supervisor yet AGAIN....we have 3 observations - one formal [announced] and 2 informal. We started the school year Sept 4 and our school year ends June 23. Guess when I got my FIRST observation? About a week ago ON THE SECOND DAY OF THE NEW MARKING PERIOD. Should I also mention that I have never had these students before since they are 6th graders [I get a group of them only one marking period], and shall I also mention that there are THIRTY-FOUR STUDENTS on my roster, including 6 with IEPs, 5 in Spec Ed, two with a 504 and an ESL student? So, the 'results' of that observation were available on Tuesday. Thank goodness I was sitting down....one of the scores I received was a "1" [ratings are 1-4 with 4 being the highest] on 'Assessment'. I had typed in my lesson plans under the section of Assessment the words 'summative/formative', meaning that at the end of the week [ideally] they get a written test, duh. She explains to me that 'no assessment was evident', as stated in my lesson plans for that day. On the first day that I met with these new students, I basically went over rules and expectations of my class, what school supplies they'd need for the marking period, what content we'd be covering, and so on. Well, the next day [Tuesday] was the actual first day that I'd begun any teaching with these new students. I think it's kind of obvious that I am not going to be giving a test ON THE FIRST DAY. Plus, I had been writing my lesson plans the same way for the last 3 years and she had never indicated that they were written incorrectly, so I have been writing the same thing week after week. Now I get penalized for something that I thought I was doing correctly all along??!?!?! I brought it to her attention to explain why I had done so [had 'summative/formative' typed in under "Assessment"] but she's pretty much not going to change it...

Oh kimmar that SUCKS. I'm so sorry. Sounds like this person has an [irrational and irrelevant] issue with you and is using this eval time to take it out. Man..... I don't mean to sound trite but DO hang in there. Good teachers are worth their weight in gold and your efforts won't go unnoticed.

....my sister is done for the school year....she had a back operation on Friday and will be recuperating...

I hope your sister is okay!

As is your brother.

I am definitely NOT hogging the warmth. It's cold here. :(

Maybe the warmth got lost on the way over to you.

Oh Kimmar! I'm at a loss for words. So sorry that the supervisor threw you under the bus. That is NOT nice. I hope that there is another assessment by a different supervisor!

Wow, I just realized I'm just over 50 posts away from 10k!! Then there's PiO, who's closing in on 100k.....!!!! :faint: That is some SERIOUS posting, gal!

So I"m off to my dad's on Thursday. Trying to get excited. I'm having some anxiety over leaving the boys (DH is coming with me). They're all old enough and the middle and youngest will spend Sat. and Sun. with my in-laws, but you're leaving your household (including 4 cats) in the hands of others, so....y'know. :(

Have fun!

And if DH hadn't been away on a work trip for the last 2.5 weeks, I would have totally aimed to get over that hurdle!! :(

Sorry, though, after all you've been going through!! :grouphug:

Good morning everyone! Trying to keep this thread going, also trying to boost my post count. :rolleyes1

I'm back from my dad's. Had a very nice visit; it's good to see him doing SO well, after the scare we all had this winter. The weather could not have been better, sunny and low 80s the entire 5 days. I did my share of sitting outside in the sun!! I stayed with a good friend of the family and it was also very nice to catch up with her. She did ask how things were really going for me, though, and mentioned that I looked visibly stressed, and she hadn't seen that in my in previous trips. She was right, of course...... That's my life lately. :sad1:

On the home front, spring HAS finally arrived and at least I didn't have to come home from FL to cold and nasty weather. Leaves are bursting out as well as early flowers. This weekend I am going to buy flowers and plants and really do up my front deck. I'll do some before-and-after pics for you all. I also came home to the notification that I was not needed at work the rest of this week (as originally planned.....) so as much as that puts a kink in my budget, I am thoroughly enjoying the time off to just be at home. :goodvibes Getting some much-needed things done around the house.

And, meanwhile, I continue to plan and dream of finally getting to WDW at the end of the summer with DH. It may be a fantasy, but it's a happy one so I will continue to dream for as long as I can keep it alive! :cloud9:

 I'm still here and trying to boost my post count as well @LegoMom3.

Glad you had a good visit with your dad! Sorry you're feeling stressed. I hope you're looking after yourself. Just remember breathe. Life's too short to be stressed.
YAY for spring. Look forward to the before and after pics.

Here's to getting to WDW for ALL fo us!!!

Thank goodness it's Friday night.

This has been one heck of a long week at work. I'm starting to have to say 'no' to taking on other people's 'issues' that they know if they ask me, I'll organise things and fix it for them. I hate saying 'no' at work; so it was a brave new day for me today. But I sat down to write out my own to-do list and after taking a look at that, I figured there was no way I could afford to take on anyone else's work.

*sigh*

Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Don't have a clue what the thread title means, but I got a boo boo this morning from my stupid curling iron on my finger and I didn't have toast so I guess it disqualifies me.

:welcome:

Y'know, I'm actually not 100% positive myself! I know some of the regulars were part of something called "BooBoo Gate", some scandal or other (the name coming from that horrid tv show, "Honey Boo Boo".....). All I know now is that we just come here to banter and talk about pretty much anything and everything!

Sorry about your curling iron debacle..... Oh, and I didn't have toast either.

Good MORNING everyone!!!!!!

TGIF, not that it really means anything to me, this week. :headache: But, at least the weekend is here. I have no plans for Mother's Day and that's how I like it. DH and I are having a belated anniversary lunch out today, and that's all I need. He is taking DS15 to a concert tonight so is taking the night off from work. Gorgeous day here again. I should go flower shopping while I'm out.
