Your favorite "random" Disney parks memory :)

It was a bit raining, MK was closing at 10 and it was near the end of the night. Enchanted tales with Belle has only been open for a little bit and we decided to give it a try. We had to wait in line until more people showed up so they could do a whole show. We had maybe 15-18 in the group and them brought us in. my son was the Beast. He looked so happy to dance with Belle. Just something about that time seems to really make me happy. Neat part is, many many people per day get to have that treat.

Ohhh . . . speaking of ducks. I was with DW, DS perhaps 8 at the time, DD maybe 18 or so, sitting on the ground at the bus stop at MK mid afternoon, waiting for a bus to take us back to POR for a (rare) mid-afternoon break. We saw a duck waddling more or less in our direction. I don't know why, but I started teasing DD telling her that the duck was going to bit her in the but.

Slowly, the duck worked it's way closer and closer to us, and I told her see, it's coming for you. Believe it or not, the duck worked it's way pretty well directly over to where DD was sitting, and . . . wait for it . . . nipped her directly in the rump. I couldn't stop laughing. DD of course, blamed it on me, said I somehow told the duck to bite her in the rump.

The first time I went to WDW I was 5, and I remember thinking that the parks were literally gigantic "parks," like playgrounds. I also remember that I was confused that my parents told me we were going to Disney World, but they kept taking me places called "Magic Kingdom" and "Epcot." The whole week I continuously asked them, "But when are we going to actual DISNEY world?" Haha! In the end, it was the most memorable trip of my life, and I broke down in tears leaving main street our last day there. Needless to say, we have been 15+ times since! We're hooked!

Another really random memory I have is one time I was standing in Line for splash mountain with my little brother. I had this thing that I did to annoy him where when he would puff out his cheeks, I would squeeze them in. Well, apparantley there was a water fountain in the line and I pushed his cheeks in and got a big, nasty stream of water and spit in my face!

See my avatar; In 2013 my friend and I were doing our last HURRAH of Disney World ( redoing rides, buying things) and we stopped at the carmel shoppe in Germany on our way to get something we came outside and this mallard started stalking me..it stalked me all the way around to Africa begging/stalking it was both hilarious and disturbing one of the kids waiting for Snow White thought it was SO COOL they had trained ducks

My most vivid memory has to be summer of 93 or 94, staying at BC. The construction walls were up because they were building BWI. The boardwalk itself was built and I walked it one night, marveling that when we came back the next year, there would be a resort there. It was a little eerie, actually, and I always think of that when I see the BW.

Best memory had to be 1990-ish. My parents sat us 3 kids down in the lobby at the GF for a bit. There was an older couple sitting on a couch across from us, reading (or just hiding behind) newspapers. It slowly dawned on us that they were our grandparents--mom and dad surprised us big time with that! That's one of my happiest memories anywhere. :)

When I was younger, my family and I went to HS the first time and discovered the villain store. I got a whiff of a Cheshire Cat plush which was apparently sold out (??) of all the shops, but I ran across the park to every shop trying to track it down. I didn't get one until the next trip. My friend got a stuffed Maleficent dragon and I ended up being super bummed that I didn't get that too, lol.

I went to WDW with my twin best friends for my 18th birthday. (First trip sans family, woooo!) At MK, we went on the teacups and one of the twins (can't remember which anymore) filmed the experience as we cracked jokes and got got dizzy. We were a giggly, silly mess. We're no longer friends, and don't have a copy of the video, but it was good times and I wish I could re-watch the video!!

On a more recent trip, DH and I were at the hub for Wishes. Not super early, but it wasn't crazy crowded yet either. A family eventually queued up really close to us and let their toddler-ish aged child lay down on the ground next to DH's feet and squirm and roll/crawl. The mother then proceeded to accuse DH of "stepping on her child." We weren't moving at all since the Celebrate the Magic had already started. Not a great memory, that one.

The second time I went to WDW, it was just my Grandpa and I. He wanted to take a break, so we rode the monorail around to the resorts. I had never been in the Polynesian or Contemporary. The Grand Floridian hadn't been built yet. He and I walked into the Polynesian, and my jaw just dropped. It was, and still was until very recently, the most beautiful hotel that I have ever seen. They still had the waterfall and the birds. My Grandpa proceeded to tell me all about the hotel. We then went to the Contemporary, and he told me all about how it was built. The whole time he had a beautiful twinkle in his eye, like a child, and a wonderful grin of amazement and happiness. My Grandpa was not the kind of guy that one would think of as a Disney guy. He was a very hard working prison guard of German and English ancestry. Very friendly, but no nonsense. Every time I go to WDW I have fond memories of his excitement and enthusiasm. Every time I see the Contemporary or Polynesian, I get a smile on my face.
This is absolutely Awesome, and I bet it was also one of your Grandfathers favorite memories. It brought a smile to my face, thank you for sharing.

It was pretty much a monsoon at MK. It was mid afternoon, had poured most of the day, and was to the point where everything was walk on because most people had decided to leave. DD was 3 or 4. She holding my hand and kicking water up and singing as we walked through Frontierland. She looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said "Mama, this is the best day ever! You never let me play outside in the rain at home!"
Outta the mouths of Babes.... nothing better than pure joy. I hope you let her play outside in the rain at home after that... :-)

Walking down Main Street around 4:00 a.m. after a very late EMH. The park was decorated for Christmas and due to it being so late there were very few people around. It was so beautiful and I'll never forget it.

Spending a week together last July with this bunch of young ladies and their families...

DGD's soccer team...they played in the International Youth Soccer games at ESPN. It was a "first trip" for some of them and was such fun showing them our "favorite place on Earth"! :tink:

Staying out until 3am for MK PM EMH on a Saturday night back in 2011 with my DD7 and DS9. Rode Splash and BTMRR several times with absolutely no wait. Finished off the night with root beer floats before we left.

My random memory, and i know someone will know the name of the ride lol. It was where test track is now, you sat in these "cars" like the people mover and eventually went outside in an upward motion spiral.

I remember my mom sitting out on the ledge they had surrounding a bunch of bush's or trees smoking a cigarette. my mom passed away over 10 years ago now, and each time i get back to WDW i go over there and think about her. I also get very sad, like now, lol, because i dont think of her very much, or as much as i feel one should.

World of Motion.

I've been going to Disney on and off for the past 30 years, so there are lots of good memories, but here are a few that immediately come to mind:

I was waiting in line for RnRC just after it first opened, and they were blasting some great music. The hand jive started playing, and literally everyone in the massive line started doing the hand jive together.

Remember when DHS used to have Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Well, I wasn't randomly selected for the hot seat, but I played along in my seat and had the highest audience score when the first person missed a question - which meant I got to go down and be in the hot seat! I think I ended up being 5 questions away from winning a Disney cruise and ended up with a set of pins, polo shirt and hat. The best part though, was when we were playing along in our seats, and my best friend and I recognized the host, but couldn't put a finger on who it was. Then suddenly we looked at each other and yelled "Supermarket Sweep!" Yep, I swear the guy playing host that day was the former host of Supermarket Sweep. I was a little starstruck in the hot seat...

One year, probably 5 or 6 years ago, we stayed for very late EMH hours at the MK. We were in the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion. Well, the part comes where the lights go off and everyone looks up. Suddenly the lights come back on and one of the CM's in full character had positioned himself in front of my sister, just inches from her face, staring at her. When the lights come on there he is right in front of her and she screams! We still get a kick out of telling that story!

I have had quite a few favorite Disney parks moments. But since the OP only asked for a favorite, it would have to be the first day of the first trip I took with my girlfriend (now my wife). She never really went on vacation as a kid and had never been to WDW. I told her I had wanted to take her, so I booked the trip. She was 21 at the time, I was 24. I tried to get her involved in the planning process, whether it was what resort to stay at, what restaurants to make reservations for, where to go on which days, what rides/attractions/shows she'd like to see, etc. and I got nothing. I tried to get her to look at some of the planning books and I got nothing. I tried for over 6 months to get her excited about the trip and I got nothing. She just didn't understand what the big deal was and thought going was dumb (yes, I was very close to ending the relationship at that point... joking but not really). We landed at MCO, got on ME and I got nothing. We got to our resort and checked in and I got nothing. We got out to the bus to go from POR to MK and I got nothing. We pulled up to the bus area at MK and I got nothing. When I say I got nothing, all she would do is give me a sympathetic smile because she knew how excited and happy I was for this trip. We walked into MK, under the RR, out the other side where Cinderella's castle was in full view. I look over at her... she had the biggest smile on her face and had tears pouring out her eyes. In that moment, she regressed back into the 5 year old version of herself. She finally understood (and caught the "Disney bug") in that instant. That is, by far, my favorite Disney park moment.

Something similar happened to me on my first visit in 2008. We went with some friends of our and we were in the stretching room. I commented to my friend that the CastMember was really into character and he was creeping me out. He must have heard me because he followed me around the room. I would hide behind someone and he would find me and get as close (without touching me of course) as he could. My family and friends were all laughing hysterically. He never broke character! Too fun!!! Brings such sweet memories of that time as the friends we were with are now divorced and we hardly see them anymore.

Another one was on the same trip. We were doing either child swap on TOT, and we got to go on our own elevator down to the room where you see your pictures after you get off the ride. On the elevator ride down we were teasing our kids that this was the real ride (I know...bad parents) and the Cast Member went along with us. She had a blast teasing us and the kids the whole way down. My kids still remember her and look for her everytime we go.

Mine were Cast Member related but that is what makes Disney so special to us!!!

The MK was open until 1 and we were the very last folks to ride Splash. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll through an empty park, got a snack at the Main Street Bakery (cause that's just what you need at 1am) and then slowly made our way out, with Main Street being completely empty. We left sometime close to 2. It was great.

I have so many. I've realized that the best and strongest memories are the "quieter" memories - not always the moments with all the bells and whistles, but the unexpected moments that just happen.

When my youngest, my daughter was about 14 (she just turned 30 - how did that happen??) we had a breakfast ressie at the Brown Derby - I think we got the end of breakfast just before they closed because the restaurant was practically empty. Pluto came over and grabbed my daughter by the hands and started dancing with her, swinging side to side. Well, she was into baggy clothes then and her pants started to slip...and slip...and slip!! and he wouldn't let go of her hands! By the look on her face, she was getting more and more panicked while her brother and I laughed hysterically. I have a great picture of her and Pluto dancing and the look on her face is priceless!

Our first MVMCP we just happened to be in the back of Frontierland not realizing that a lot of the characters come from that direction - there were about 10 people in the square there and the characters came out and dance and interacted just with us for about 30 minutes - was a great time!

The first time they had the little garden in Germany where they sell glasses of Gluewein at Christmastime - my younger son was stationed in Germany for 5 years and I was fortunate enough to visit the Kristkindle Market in Nuremberg with him several times. That particular year he was home on leave from his 2nd tour in Iraq and we sat in the Germany garden, having a glass of Gluewein together - it brought back so many good memories, and made new ones - was a nice quiet break away from the crowds and a chance for us to reconnect.

After my son and daughter-in-law were married at the Beach Club, we went to the Bar at the Floridian and looked at all the wonderful Christmas decorations. There's a wonderful picture of us in front of that big tree - I have a HUGE smile on my face - most likely from the champagne!!

Last year it was just my grandson (4 then) and me at MK - the dance party came through near the hub and he went out and was dancing for all he was worth. He has some issues with socializing, crowds and does not do well with loud noises (he has been diagnosed with Asperger's), so I was amazed at how comfortable he was with the crowd and the loud music. He talked about dancing with Mickey for the rest of the trip!

Counting down to my next trip this December! Can't wait to make more memories!!

I have quite a few... but my most recent one was riding the Astro Orbiter at night. I think it was the last ride before we had to leave MK on our final night there. It was really kinda of silly but I felt I was leaving a lot of worries behind on that ride. It was nice. :cloud9:
