My family and I booked a 2 bedroom villa at Sherton Vistana Resort yesterday. This will be our first trip to Disney, and there is five of us 4 adults and a teen. Is the SVR a good resort, and which section do I need to request as far as quiet, and close to the market place and pool? Would it be possible to get two double beds as opposed to twins in the second bedroom? Is SVR well maintained and can we easily opt out of timeshare meetings? Which pools are best? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

i have stayed at SVR twice in the last 3 years or so. SVR is well-maintained and pretty recently renovated. it's easy to opt out of timeshare meetings - just don't fall for the "we have a special gift for you..." spiel and it's a non-issue.

We fell in love with the resort when we visited it for the first time in 2013. So much so, we purchased two annual weeks there.

The resort itself has a very relaxed and quiet vibe. Think gardens, lakes, ponds, ducks and hammocks. Just about every section has multiple buildings that would fit your desire for quiet, and most villas have balconies or patios that face small lakes and ponds with gentle fountains.

There are seven pools at the resort, three of which are considered the main pools (Cascades, Fountains and the Super Pool in Spas). Those three are all open until 1 am, and feature special events on a rotating basis throughout the week....things like karaoke, games organized by the FUN Team, pool parties, etc.

All sections but Falls and Courts have two doubles in the second bedroom. If your confirmation shows "sleep 6 privately, sleeps 8 max" then you should be in one of the villas that has two doubles in the 2nd bedroom. If you have a "sleeps 6 privately, sleeps 6 max" confirmation then you may be in one of the villas that has two singles in the guest bedroom. Note that Falls is generally reserved for Sunday check-ins only, and Courts for Saturday check-ins only.

Best pools? That really depends on your preferences. We like the Fountains pool the best.....it has the deepest water, it features a cascading waterfall, there is a volleyball net at the one end of the pool, there are two separate hot tubs set up and back from the pool itself (nice and private), and its the only one that features dive-in movies. But....we have an older teen, so that makes a big difference. The Cascades pool with the splash fountain is popular with smaller folk, as is the Falls pool (with the small slide). The Super Pool also has its merits.

We find the resort to be very well maintained. The rooms were all renoed within the last five years (I think?) and the finishings are lovely. Granite countertops, ceramic tile, dark wood cabinets.

Like it has been mentioned earlier....just say no to the timeshare meeting/resort preview/"free breakfast" or whatever they happen to call it.

chalee94 had some good advice.....come over and join the chat on the SVR thread that he provided. Lots of good info there!

Just a small edit to the above....we are here now, and the poolside movies are now being featured at the Super pool (in Spas), not at the Fountains pool as they were last August.

Thank you for this thread! I was looking for very similar information and am glad to have found it. We're staying at SVR for the first time in November, and this will literally be the first time I've stayed off property in DECADES! We're excited to give this a try. Looks like a great fit for our family right now. We'll be traveling with myself, DH, DD (6) and DD (11 mos), plus my mom. Thanks, everyone!
