Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We are paying for a preferred room seeing as we have two little ones plus my Mom who has knee issues. As we need connecting rooms should the only request I make be connecting rooms or should I chance it and add close to transportation?

There is only 1 preferred location area. It is the area highlighted in bright, light blue in the 60's section:

Preferred is going to be in front of the hippy dippy pool and closest to Classic Hall. Right through Classic Hall is the bus stops so you shouldn't have to request "close to transportation".

Just booked our first stay at Pop! August 29 to Sept 5, with the new free quick service dining offer! DD is excited, since she's been wanting to stay there for a while! Just the 2 of us, so I think double beds and smaller room is fine! We didn't want to upgrade to regular dining, since we rarely do sit down meals for just the 2 of us. I also don't like to HAVE to make dining reservations; I'd rather go with the flow!

If you want to use your quick service plan at Be Our Guest for lunch (I would!) you should look at getting a lunch reservation. It's a quick service credit but now you can make ADRs for BOG lunch.

Since you booked preferred, you are already going to be close to the bus stop. I would make connecting rooms your only request.

WOO HOO!!! POP Century, here we come AGAIN (9th time)!!! :jumping1:
We were going anyway but we just booked with Free dining with 2 standard rooms Nov 18th-25th!
Did anyone notice that you must have park hopper to get FD this year? It's not a biggie for us, since we always get park hopper but I was wondering what Disney was going to do this year to switch it up.
Also, I have read that you can now modify an existing reservation to add FD if you have an existing ressie (when the system doesn't crash)
Good luck to all my Disboard friends that are wanting free dining. Hang in there!:thumbsup2

I just made one! Never eaten there before! We got a 2:15pm lunch on the Monday following our Saturday arrival. It's nice that we can also order soup for the snack credit, so we'll enjoy a leisurely lunch during what is usually a hot (and often rainy) time of the day!

The area highlited in blue are the only preferred POOL view rooms. The areas highlited in yellow are the regular preferred rooms. We stayed in 70's section building 10 front corner I believe and were very close to the transportation.

We booked a Preferred (not Preferred Pool) room today. We stayed at POP for one night last year although we were only there for a few hours (split-stay). Where is a good location to request in order to be close to the food court? Also, I've heard good things about AoA's food court - how long does it take to walk over there (estimate).

Our kids are 16 and 13 and I'm concerned that they won't have a good time because maybe they are a little to old for this resort, not sure :confused3 If you've stayed elsewhere, as in a moderate, what brings you back to POP? What are the major perks/highlights/benefits to staying at POP? I'm just trying to get pumped up and would love to hear from those that are POP diehards :) Thanks!

I would word your request as "close to food court".

I just booked Pop! This is our first time staying here. I am so excited! I booked standard room. Can anyone tell me which building I should request to be closest to the food court and not in a preferred room? Thank you!

Can someone tell me what's so great about Pop compared to others? Some people seem to love this resort very much. I booked FD here this morning, but had originally planned to be in Mod, so I was kind of bummed. But its definitely reassuring seeing so much love for the resort!

You are sooo right! I misread the post! Thank you for catching that!

I'm so excited! We just booked early this morning at POP for December 19-28 with free dining! It feels like we spent forever trying to decide which resort. We finally chose POP right before we went to bed last night because of the great reviews it gets and because we wanted to try something new! :flower1:

Be ready to fall in love! :cloud9: Congrats on getting your ressie! Happy that there were still some Free dining rooms left!
We booked our free dining yesterday morning! November 18th-25th for us! WOO HOO!! :jumping1:
This will be our 9th stay at POP. Once they opened, we have never stayed anywhere else!

I just got back from my third trip to Pop Century. DH, DS (almost 3 years old) and I had one room, while my mom was in another room. We had linked the reservations together and were able to get connecting rooms. Mom had a king bedroom. We had booked a standard pool view, taking advantage of the spring discount offer. We had requested 50's and ground floor but ended up in 90's and third floor. We had been sent our room assignment via text message but still stopped at check-in to see if they could change our rooms. They weren't able to. Luckily, we weren't too far from the elevator so it wasn't too bad after a day of tour the parks. We sleep with a noise machine and it was enough to cover the noise from the pool.

We had last stayed at Pop in July 2013 and was not impressed with the dinner menu at the food court. It was a little bit better this time so we had 2 or 3 dinners there. We walked over to AoA one night as well for dinner and drove to CBR another night. Breakfast was good but did get crowded shortly after 7am. There were various high school aged groups staying at Pop, who you only really noticed at the food court, but we had no issues with them.

Mousekeeping was great. Two different days, we came back to towel animals in both rooms.

The new credit card operated laundry machines were easy to use. The sign hadn't changed yet but the dryer time is now 60 minutes. The machines even count down for you how much time is remaining.
