What to do/pack/plan for a 15 month old in July?

We are planning a trip in July (2015) and it will be our first visit with out son who will be 15 months old at that time.

Wanting any tips and tricks you all might have for visiting that time of year with him. What should we pack? What type of clothing to bring for him? Any idea on bags to bring that will make our lives easier? What kind of foods/snacks/drinks do they allow to take into the parks and how much can we take? Any ideas would be very much appreciated as this will be our first big trip with him and we love Disney so much we can't wait to share it with him!

Thank you all! Chris

He'll need very light clothing but lots of sunblock! And a stroller with good sun coverage. Carrying a change of clothes is always a good idea in case you want to let him splash in the water areas to cool off.

You can bring in whatever food and drink you want, as long as you want to cart it around.

Carry one backpack with your valuables and necessities (preferably something neutral so you can switch off wearing it) and leave everything else in the stroller basket. No need to bring the whole diaper bag into every line and ride.

And the #1 thing...start early. Most little kids are at their best and brightest early in the day. Go back to your resort after lunch if at all possible for rest in the a.c., and head back out in the evening when it's cooler.

You're going to have a blast! Happy planning!

We are doing the same, definitely not our first visit, but the first time with a 20 month old. its going to be fun. We have lots of changes of clothes, plenty of sunblock and a good number of parents, grand-parents and an aunt and uncle to take turns so hoping for the best

baby powder and some sort of diaper rash creme. Diapers get really sweaty and anything you can do to help them keep dry is a plus.

Great advice on the baby powder and sweaty diapers. Didn't even think about that. I've been thinking about light clothing. Thank for that

Summer crowds start to die off after Labor Day. But it will still be hot.

I don't think anyone has mentioned water shoes yet. They are a must so LO can go in all of the water play areas. There's something in every park. We just keep them in the bottom of the stroller and put them in whenever needed.

Bring a few outfits each day. You'll either have to change because LO gets hot and sweaty or wet. Use the baby centers. They are the nicest places to change diapers and rest in a cool area. We used the stroller fan from amazon, too. Hydrate regularly. We brought our own stroller (highly recommended) and kept a lidded cup on the front tray for DS to drink whenever he wanted. You can get more water from any CS place. When choosing rides, keep in mind that LO may not like dark rides yet and shows may take too long for limited attention spans. I highly recommend making your first character experience with face characters. They are a lot more approachable.

Take lots and lots of extra socks in case the baby loses his shoes. They require that you wear shoes on the rides, for obvious reasons, but they'll allow a pair of socks for a baby in arms. And little ones that age love to take their shoes and socks off. For that age, I have a few pairs of shoes packed, but we don't take extras into the parks. We just take socks into the parks for backups. So far, no shoes have gone missing and stayed missing, but we've gone a few hours here and there without knowing where one of the shoes was until it was turned into lost and found or propped up onto a trashcan near where he lost it one time.

:POh, I had forgotten about the shoes! DS was almost 2 when he lost a shoe in Disneyland! It turned up in lost and found the next day.

On more than one trip we paid more to rent the stroller than the rental car. Definitely bring your own stroller, and try to choose one with more airflow. At first we were anal about keeping everything with us, but you really can leave non-valuables in the stroller. No one ever messed with anything left behind--jackets, blankets, even diaper bags and souvenir cups can be left in the stroller when you go in to attractions.

Our little ones loved Dumbo (the indoor play area is even better), Aladdin's flying carpets, Buzz Lightyear, and all the play areas, wet and dry. He liked all the characters (except Santa!) and parades. Don't be afraid to try things. When in doubt, cold drinks and snacks can be lifesavers. They used to have a kids meal power snack pack with yogurt, applesauce, goldfish, etc. But you can bring your own snacks in as well.

Relax, and go with the flow, and he will too!

We've been to Disney multiple times with babies, just as recently as this last September and we've never put socks or shoes on them and we've never had an issue. We always go in September when it's hot, so I would never even think to bring socks for a child who doesn't wear shoes, but like I said we've never had anyone question it and they go on all rides their height allows.
