how much of a hassle is pool hopping?

I understand it's allowed, but is it a pain to actually do? We are looking at rpr in late August, but it doesn't have a pool slide. My kids are interested in a slide and maybe the lazy river. How difficult/time-consuming is it to go to a different pool at a mid-day break?

Well...I don't swim during mid-day breaks. Takes too much time (no matter where you are, even at DLR) and tends to exhaust my family. So I would hit the parks early and hard, and then just end early and go off for the swimming adventures.

With everything in hand, take the water taxi to HRH or Portofino for the slides, then when you're done take the water taxi back to CityWalk, get in line for RPR's water taxi, and go "home". Cabana Bay has a walking path from RPR.

Thanks! We like mid-day breaks at wdw and did at DLR . I guess universal closes earlier, so we'll have to consider that.

How long is the walk from rpr to cabana bay?

We took a break every day during our trips. We never ventured past our own resort pool. We kept saying we were goint to walk to CB from RPR one day, but never did it. It's just too easy to plop down at our own resort.

I don't think it would be all the hard to do, you just have to have more motivation than we had, I guess. No kids in the family clamoring for a slide here.

That's us too.

We have no desire to pool hop........we did years ago to see other pools but we're happy with RP pool, and we too have no little ones wanting a slide.

But yes it is easy enough to do if you so choose.

I'm still debating hopping in August...but given we only have three days there, what the 5 year old doesnt know won't hurt him. :-) LOL

If I was doing three days I would not pool hop. It's not a bad idea, I would just feel like I'm wasting a lot of to going back and forth to other resorts.

If you really like the breaks, then being prepared is key! Leave the resort in the morning with everything you need for the break. Leave the park, go to the other pool, have fun, dry off and change, and head back to the parks! They have towels at the pools, free to use, so there's no need to bring the towel.

We've only hopped once, to HRH. DS liked the slide. Other than that I found the pool to be pretty boring. Very shallow water apart from the area under the slide (which you can't hang out in lest you get hit by sliders).

Thanks! I guess I'm partly wondering if we should just stay at hrh or pbh if we want a slide. Rp is cheaper, so if hopping one day is easy to do, then I'd rather stay there!

We tend to be park people. Therefore we never hop pools. However, if you only plan to spend half days at the park, go for it! We are at PBR for 8 nights soon but still won't pool hop. We stayed at HRH once and it did nothing for me. IMHO, bland hotel, entrance and pool. Don't get me wrong, we had a blast. Just won't be back. It was fun for one visit.

Well, we're really there for harry potter - my kids aren't big on thrill rides. Originally we planned on a two day stay, but a third day looks like it might work out better. Which will be good for a relaxing vacation, and I don't think we'll need to spend all day at the parks. My kids like pools and slides and activities around the pool, so I think that we will want to do midday breaks. (Last wdw trip we were at cabins at ft wilderness and spent at least part of every day at the pool).

Thanks for the suggestions. I think going directly from the parks is a great idea. Not sure if ill want to head straight back without a shower, but that definitely eliminates the extra travel!
