Hello everyone,

Over the past several weeks, many projects have been completed at the resort (e.g., Lava Pool, hot tub). Recently, on both Steve's Facebook page and WDWMagic, we saw the photos of Kiki Tikis splash play area. The BBQ area also seems to be coming along nicely.

If anyone is currently on property or has recently visited, would you please tell us how much construction is still taking place at the resort? We will be visiting in two weeks and have been wondering what to expect.

Thanks,
Jim 8O

Here now. Construction and related screens are still up all around the Tokelau building. We were not disturbed by the construction in any way (we certainly didn't hear anything) but our stay was over the weekend and perhaps work activity was halted during that time.

Edited to add: The gas grills are NOT yet open. Looking very close, though.

Thank you, for providing us with an update.

Were there many fences in the Pago Pago/Moorea courtyard? It is difficult to tell how much impact the BBQ area construction is having on the views.

Any thoughts on less exposure to construction noise at east pool at pago pago or moorea?:confused3 THANKS!:goodvibes

Is the path from Poly to TTC open?
Yes! We used it and found it very convenient.

Thank you, for providing us with an update.

There was only one low (<4ft) set of PVC piping at the entrance of the BBQ area. I saw no other fences between the Moorea and Pago Pago buildings. We had a Moorea unit facing Pago Pago and enjoyed the views from our patio (1st floor) while sipping coffee. The view was very lovely, indeed.

I'm afraid we never ventured near the East Pool. Sorry!

bwvBound, Sounds like you had a GREAT vaca! We will be requesting Moorea as I have read that they are all garden views for standard! THANKS for your comments!:goodvibes

Thank you for the update. I had wondered if a parking lot view would be better because I feared significant construction in the courtyard.

I didn't find the Room Request Options offered through Online Check-in terribly useful. As is, I left nothing selected and left it to chance/grace. I figured our early arrival (red-eye from CA landing at 5A) would be the primary driver on room assignment. I did not wish a parking lot view, but figured it was part of the 'standard view' gamble.

We got our 'Room Ready' text message at 2:05p and were delighted with our assignment. I wish that "near the laundry" was an option in the room preferences! (Need that laundry!)

I was at the Polynesian Villas on Monday and there is a LOT of construction activity though Pago Pago and Moorea seem to have little except lots of landscapers scurrying about doing final touches. There were several workers at the grill area as bwvbound mentioned still a work in progress. Most of the construction activity seems to be at the Tokelau building which from a peek into the interior corridor, looks like it has a good ways to go before it will be ready for occupancy.

The Studios are huge and as are each of the portions of the split bathrooms. The bungalows are insane. Had a night booked in one for October, but I just couldn't justify 120 points along with all my other vacation plans for the next use year. :sad2:

If one was to sit on their balcony, in Pago Pago or Moorea, would he/she see a significant amount of landscape work occurring in the courtyard?

I am still debating requesting a parking lot view because I do not want to look out at construction fences and unfinished walkways.

Looks like the grill area is very, very close to being done. Some nice photos were posted on Tikiman's Facebook page today.

I am sure that the bungalows are BEAUTIFUL, but personally will never justify the point use. We typically stay in 2 BRs when we vacation with our family, so the point allocation is a disappointment for me. LOOKING FORWARD to our studio in October!:Pinkbounc

Although I follow Steve's page on Facebook, the photos did not appear in my feed yesterday. The area does look close to being done and it seems as though the traditional fencing was replaced with a temporary PVC fence. Perhaps the Pago Pago courtyard views are now construction free?

Hi SpaceMountain77! I would definitely not request a parking lot view. Though they are still working (or were Monday) on the landscaping, it's still very pretty as this resort is well established. I think you'll like the view between Pago Pago and Moorea! Have fun!

Just came back today. The smell of something delicious waft our way last night from the grill. Landscaping looked great. There were fences around part of the pool and one building, not intrusive at all. I would hope not to get a parking lot view. The grounds are so much nicer. The laundry soap dispenser in Moorea would not work.
