Last night my hubby surprised me with a trip to Disney for the family arriving May 31-June 3. He went through Costco and got free character meal. My question is I want to make reservations for my Bday for a dinner. Which do you suggest we have only done breakfast chip and dale and minnie.

We love Blue Bayou for lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is amazing.....being able to eat a meal inside PoTC and watching the boats go by just adds to the experience.

Ask for a waterside table.... You will have to wait but it's worth it.

Oh and :bday:

Have him pony up the money for the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose!!

EDIT: Just saw that you said it is a free character meal! I retract my answer and pose the question: does Ariel's Grotto count as a character meal? I always find meeting the princesses fun... They're so firmly in character, it's fun to interact with them.

Just found out the grotto is character meal is only breakfast a lunch latest sitting 430....

I think the only dinner with characters is Goofy's Kitchen. I could be wrong, but I didn't think the princesses stuck around for dinner at Ariel's Grotto because it turned into a WOC dining package option. I think the menu is supposed to be pretty good at Goofy's, for a buffet. We did breakfast there and I wasn't totally impressed, but we paid their super high rate in cash. I wish I'd paid a bit more for dinner instead. The characters were Pluto, Minnie, Chip, and Dale, with a picture with Chef Goofy on the way in. We went on our last day, and by then we'd seen those guys a few times already, which is the only reason I am considering lunch at Ariel's for our next trip. Princesses! I do believe Goofy has the largest menu of all the locations, and the extremely limited menu at Ariel's is just not sounding appealing to me.

There really aren't any great character meal dinners IMO. If it were me I would do the free character meal at Ariel's Grotto for lunch and schedule a birthday dinner somewhere else. Blue Bayou is always special or for a bigger splurge do Carthay Circle. Delicious food and mesmerizing historic atmosphere.

I think the previous poster is right and Goofy's is the only dinner option with characters.

I'd do Surf's Up for breakfast and be very happy.

Spent my own 40th at DL; even better, it was the "free on your birthday" year!
