book for 4 then only 3 go?

OK so another trip and another dither.

This time DH says he DEFINITELY won't go with us but we have been here before and with free dining it would seem more sensible to book for the four of us and only pay the extra £300 park tickets so that if he does decide to go we have only got to sort out flights for four rather than booking for three and having to sort out his tickets, amend room booking for an extra person and pay oop for his dining.

My question is would I have any problems at check in if only three of us turned up?

Thanks

I'm sure it would be fine, me and dh booked a moderate room with our dd but then our dd decided she wanted to stay in a different hotel with her b/f, we kept her name on our booking as well so she still got the free dining which Disney were fine with! :)

They need never know whether he is there or not, the dining credits will be available to you. Alternatively, you could book for 3, it is easy to add a 4th to your room ressie just for the price of the tickets.

We ended up like this a few years ago. Booked for four, only three of us could make it in the end. Had a free dining offer so we just used the extra credits and ate at more table service meals, just told CM at check in "he was joining us later" (he never did). Cost us the extra for his park ticket, but then for that we got to eat at more signature restaurants :-)

thanks to you all. This is exactly what I was hoping (well exactly what I'm hoping is that he will change his mind again). Anyway we can use the extras for breakfast if he doesn't come and it is much easier than worrying about paying oop for one person if he does come.

Sincere thanks for all of your answers :)

Last time we were on free dining we booked for four. There were only three of us. We then had an extra counter service, snack and table service meal credit for each day. We used the snack and counter service for our breakfasts and the table service to upgrade to the 2 credit restaurants. It was great, really made the most of those extra credits and ate at nearly every 2 credit restaurant. We then asked Disney if we could extend our spare Disney ticket to expire the end of the next year and they did. To be honest I didn't think they would but they were so good about it. I called them when we got home, explained that we had never used it but wanted to go back the next year. That's exactly what we did, stayed offsite and only had to buy two tickets.

If it might end up just you and your children then I'd add him on if he changes his mind. I hope he does! With children you are less likely to use extra dining credits. We can barely get through them all as it is on the regular plan it's so much food. Are any of your children 10 plus (Disney Dining adults)? If so paying for a kids meal if he comes out of pocket may save you money overall. My 13 year old still eats off the kids menus a lot she just can't manage the size of many of the TS meals it over faces her.

I appreciate the advice however with a 17 year old son there is never any waste LOL
