Anyone else have trouble buying points for Aulani?

We are purchasing points for Aulani through one of the resale companies. Our offer was accepted January 30th and there is no end in sight for the process. The title company in Hawaii won't respond to us at all and it has left me worrying that this is all a scam and we have lost the money we wired. They also sent us all the wrong documents (via a courier that cost us $50) and then had to send most of them again via email. There were tons of typos and mistakes. It is all felt really unprofessional and frustrating. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any suggestions for how you got them to complete the process?
Thanks!

DVC Resale Market. Their side of the transaction was ok, but they seem to have just passed it off to the title company and are done with it. Do you think you think I should try contacting them again? I tried before when the paperwork had all the errors and they pretty much just responded that I needed to talk to the title company.

Hawaii works on a totally different clock, Hang - Loose - Bruddah.

What do you expect, wiki wiki?

I would call the broker and inform them of the mistakes the title company is making- If I was the owner of that company, I would want to know. The brokers can't really help with the closing but they can speak to the title company on your behalf. Good luck!

Pamelaj, who is your title company?

We are also purchasing at Aulani, but just passed ROFR so we are not as far along as you (but haven't had any problems with our title company so far).

The whole process was/is super long. Our offer was accepted January 20th and we received the member # today (5/23). Everyone estimated 80-90 days, so that is what I anticipated. Our title company is First American Title Company. It was really, really difficult to get them to respond to anything and we were worried it was a scam after the major errors and typos in all of our paperwork. Hope it is smoother for you!

First American is our title co. too. I was planning on making a booking for next spring break before the 7 month window, but if it takes this long then I have no hope anything will be available. Our contract also has banked points expiring soon.

How long did it take the title co. to send you the closing docs from when Disney issued the estoppel?
How long did it take from time all the docs were returned till your deed was registered? It seems fast for Florida contracts, but wondering if Hawaii is slower?

Sadly, we missed our 7 month window due to the delays (by a little over 3 weeks) and now only one hotel has the room we want for our dates. Makes getting the points much less exciting if it is hard to actually use them. Since it was so hard to get them to respond at all, I don't have many dates. It closed on 4/29 and we got the member number on 5/23. Hope yours works out better!

We plan on buying resale Aulani but this thread makes me a bit nervous! Is there only one title company for aulani? Or do different brokers use different title companies?

Difft brokers use difft title companies. I started the process back in December.... Didn't receive points in my account till feb, I think. But my next trip isn't till dec 2016, so there was no rush for points on my part. The savings is well worth the wait, imo.

First American was out title co as well. Both for my real 365 home, and fof my dvc purchases (2 thru fidelity). I think they are huge.

Good luck!

It sounds like you would probably be dealing with First American. Like Pamelaj, I found their communication not so great. Our broker told us the closing docs would be emailed, so I inquired with FA when they would be emailing the docs. Then last week FedEx turns up on my door (they made me paid for the courier) and despite me asking, FA never informed me they had received the estoppel.

I was not told the docs needed to be notarized by a US notary (I am Canadian) and mailed back, which can only be done at a US consulate through appointments which usually book 2-3 weeks ahead. So all if this poor communication has delayed our closing and we have no hope of closing on the date the broker said we would.
Oh, and like Pamelaj, our closing docs also had mistakes.
Even though it IS more of a hassle to buy Aulani because of Hawaii state requirements, I wouldn't let the problems deter you from buying. Just don't go into it thinking you'll close when the broker says, or buy a contract with points expiring anytime soon, or plan to book a vacation anytime soon. :)

Just a quick note- have you already sorted out the notary? We are in Toronto and found that, when we needed a US notary, there were a lot of lawyers who were registered as such, and we didn't need to go to a consulate...maybe you could do the same?
