Free Dining Fall 2015? (and a whole lot more)

Where in MDE do you see this? If I go under "my reservations," I see no option to modify or cancel. Is it somewhere else?

I don't have a reservation and haven't had one since they added that feature so I'm not sure of the details, I'll see if I can search for someone else's comment telling how to get there. I know there were some issues for some people.

Why am I thinking when you make reservations you have to pay a deposit? Of is it that they just need a credit card # to hold the reservation so if you are a no show they can charge a fee to your card?
I got on here before going to bed so that I would not have 10 pages in the morning to file through, but based on the number of alerts popping up as I type......I suspect a lot of pages as the lurkers are coming out of hiding. The funny part is I'm not sure we are getting FD at this point as it being only 2 of us and we prefer the freedom to not have preplanned times for eating...........but I don't want to leave because I'm hoping to hear RO discounts come out at the same time so I can figure this out of what works best.
Honestly I'm afraid....I'll be gone all afternoon....OMy gosh what will happen here.

Pixie dust pixiedust: to all.

You do have to make a $200 deposit when you make a reservation.

Not sure if this has been asked, I couldn't find it if it has...if April 30 or May 1 is in fact 'the day', will it possibly be announced prior to that or do we just call or go online that day and hope the FD is being offered? The 6am online opening time is early for us westerners (3am!!) so it would be nice if we knew before!

From what I can tell, it will just show up online, I don't remember anyone saying it was announced in advance. Also, there's still a chance that they *could* bypass the visa early release and just do a public release on Monday, but that's still complete speculation.

The first year we went as a family when our kids were 12 and 9, we kept it a surprise. We told them we were going on vacation but to a local mountain town. It snowed and snowed and snowed a few days before we were supposed to be "there" (mountains). The kids were all packed with hats, gloves,...all the winter garb. I had to repack their suitcases with shorts, swimsuits, etc. while they were at school and then we gave them an envelope on the way to the airport that had the Disney luggage tags. They FREAKED out. It was the best surprise for them but it was soooo difficult to hold onto the secret. In every year since then, we tell them we are going but always have surprises planned (ie. where we are going for dinner at Disney) as well as other things along the way such as swimming with the dolphins at Discovery (not a Disney property), trips to the ocean, etc.

I am HORRIBLE at surprises. I just get so excited I can't keep it to myself plus I am bad at making decisions so I greatly value my family's input in the planning. I recently bought tickets to see Rush for my husband's 50th birthday because he loves Rush and this might be their final tour. My plan was to wait and tell him the day before (in July) and make this huge surprise out of it. Nope, I cracked and told him. I was too excited to keep it a secret, especially since he could share in the excitement.

All this hyper planning is going to kill me!! Lol! I guess I'll set my alarm for 3am, check the site, and hope I can go back to sleep if the FD isn't there. Disney sure doesn't make it easy on us...good thing it's all worth it once we get there!

I'm running some numbers now for a possible split stay. We might be able to save some money by switching resorts if they cut off free dining in December using teacher discounts at the Dolphin, renting DVC points, or special pricing. I have never done a split stay before. If we purchased the package with our first three night stay, can we buy 9-day tickets? If we link both reservations together, will we have any issues with FP+ or ADR's?

I am an insomniac :( but it does come in 'handy' when planning a Disney trip. I am ALWAYS wide awake between 2:00 and 5:00 a.m. MDT which typically coincides with Disney releases at some point but completely sucks for the other, um 360 days of the year....

3am? I'm on the west coast and was planning on getting up at 4ish. Do the lines open at 6 or 7 Eastern time>

I think that would be okay. I don't think they limit your ticket days to the number of days on your reservation, although I've never tried. And I think the FP and ADR's are only based on your name being in the system with a reservation, not attached directly to your reservation. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

well that stinks, but yes good for Monday:)

That would suck. I'm usually awake by 6am my time (PST) but 3am might be pushing it!! I'll do it for Disney, though!! Hence why my family thinks I'm crazy. Lol!

Yes, good for Monday (if it's announced), making ADRs, etc. Wish I had such a good reason to be awake the remainder of the year, oy! My family doesn't just 'think' I'm crazy, they KNOW I'm crazy :rolleyes1

As each hour passes I wonder if the FD offer goes straight to GP and skips DV card holders pre bookings all together
I've been thinking this too! So if Monday ends up being a GP release instead of a DV offer what time will the website reflect this sale?? Anybody know?

I have a dumb question. The status under your name, like Mouseketeer, are there any directions behind that? For example, is "Earning my Ears" the first step? When did I earn "Mouseketeer", and what is the hierarchy after that? I tried searching the Disboards but I'm not finding it.
