Wait list Came Through

I really feel like I hit the DVC wait list lottery this afternoon. We own at SSR and are spending 6 nights at Disney the week of Thanksgiving - obviously a busy time. We were fine with staying at SSR but thought I would throw a few "impossible" wait lists into the picture just in case - for studios at GFV and VWL. I never imagined either of them coming through because availability online has been really spotty (just a day here or there) at both resorts for months. I went ahead and wait listed the entire 6 nights both places on Wednesday morning and then this afternoon I got the e-mail that the wait list for VWL came through! It has always been a dream of mine to stay there during the holidays but I never figured it would happen and certainly not on this trip or this quickly - still in a bit of shock. Super excited and more excitingly counting down the days until our trip now.

Any great tips on VWL? I will admit I know very little about that resort outside of 1-2 short visits to eat at WL on past trips.

That is awesome! We stayed at the lodge the year before becoming members and loved it there. Haven't stayed in the villas there yet. We also got a WL thst came through recently for 11/7&11/8 at BLT. Pretty excited about that too!

Happy for you. Congratulations!

I'm hoping to read more of these stories this year - my theory is that many members want to give the Poly a try and when they are successful, there are more 7 month openings at the smaller resorts.

I have to say, I'm shocked you got a 6 night waitlist to come through. You got some pixie dust sent to you!

We've stayed in VWL studios several times. There are a few dedicated studios at the very far end of the building, and they always put us there. We don't mind the walk and like the quiet, but if distance is a consideration for you, be sure to mention that when you make any location requests.

Congrats! 6 nights for Thanksgiving week is indeed a big dose of pixie dust!

Nice to hear. I am waitlisted at BWV for one night. It is one of my home resorts but I forgot to book at the 11 month window. I still can't believe I forgot!!! I have BLT as a backup but thinking about booking a few nights at the Poly. I'd better make up my mind before those nights are gone too!

VWL is a great resort. I really enjoy the boat ride to the MK and Fort Wilderness. It is really beautiful around the holidays. The tree should go up during your stay. When we were there at Thanksgiving we went to sleep and the next morning the tree was up!

It is just a short walk to WL. The quick service restaurant (Roaring Forks) is nice and Whispering Canyon is fun. The "Ranger" at the resort does a guided tour one day of the week. (Sorry--I dont know which day but you can ask when you check in.) I don't know if they still do this but they used to have a "family of the day". If you are lucky enough to do this you go on the roof with a guide and get to raise the flags on the roof. They allowed us to have free breakfast in the concierge lounge. We also received a certificate. If you are interested in this you ask at the desk upon check-in. As I said we did this quite a while ago and things may have changed.

Hope you enjoy our first DVC resort!

We've always gotten the studio rooms at the end of the hall...for just the two of us, but because I put in a request for those rooms in May, we probably will be right next to the elevator...those end of hall studios have two closets, which is great since we have three adults and two kiddos in a studio for this trip
