Rider Swap and Fast Pass

I believe it's only the first one going on. My DH and I swapped for RSR, and they gave me a rider swap ticket to give DH to use.

Do they have child swap in the Single Rider lines? I'd like to be able to hang out with my wife in the Single Rider lines, since I've always experienced a bit of a wait in Soarin, RSR and Indiana Jones. But, since it is already a "single rider" thing. I don't know if they'll let us swap.

The entire party did not into the line for writer swap so this would not work for your single rider situation. They do not let anybody who does not meet the height requirement into the line

You can also combine FP and Rider Swap for multiple rides. This is especially effective in larger groups. So get a FP for everyone in the group. Then return close to the beginning of your FP window, everyone goes to ride the ride and do the rider swap thing. So the person with the child doesn't actually ride the ride, but on most, the attendant in charge of the rider swap passes will want to see the small child. Then you could potentially still be holding two FPs (one for the small child if they are over 3 and one for the adult who waited with them) plus you will have the swap pass that is good for up to three people. So four additional people (besides the original adult who waited with the child) could go on the ride again.

However if it is just you, your SO and one or two children big enough to ride the ride and one or two that aren't. Just getting enough FPs for the initial riders is a good idea since the Rider Swap pass will allow the two children to go again anyway. Then you could potentially hold FP for different ride with the Rider Swap option at the same time.

And you can go through the Single Rider line and not actually go on the ride. I do this all the time with my 10 yo. You just tell the attendant when you get to the front of the line that you aren't going to ride and they will let you step through to wait at the exit. However, as PP mentioned, they don't let anyone into the single rider line that can't actually go on the ride, so that doesn't work with small children.

One thing about the Rider Swap passes is they can be used any time that day. This can make for extra rides of a favorite if you're willing to commit the time. EX: FP Space for 9:40-10:40, wife rides at 9:40 and asks for RS pass (husband and baby need to be there for CM to see) then when the wife gets off the husband could use his FP and ask for a RS pass too (again wife and baby should be there). Then they can go off and do whatever for hours and come back to Space and use the RS passes when they're ready. They do need to be used that day, and are now coded/stamped more like a FP (they used to be colored cards). This is only a bonus if you really want to ride multiple times, keep in mind that this takes a good chunk of time as the RS passes typically send you to the FP line and there is still a wait, plus the ride time itself. So if the rider waits 8 minutes to ride and the ride is 5 minutes long. You're taking about 15 minutes per ride X4 = an hour spent riding Space Mountain. You'd need to decide if it's really worth it to you.

You could use just one FP as mentioned in the original post and get a swap pass for the second rider. Then get a FP for a different ride. The distribution of the swap passes is a bit wonky and is not streamlined per ride. Some rides give them to the non-rider at the entrance after seeing the baby, other rides give you one of those black necklaces and tell you to give it to a CM further up to get your pass. And BTMR, is the worst as you are supposed to ask at the front of the ride and it's easy to forget, plus it back up the loading a little.

If you follow this approach, wouldn't the CM question the same family getting the rider swap in the same 1 hour fast pass period?

Not really. It's perfectly allowable. There's no rule that says you can only use FP or RS. They are meant to be used together. If you plan to use both FP and RS you can A use FP back to back for the same ride and collect a RS pass each time for later use. Or B get just one FP for the ride and one RS pass and use your other ticket to get a FP for a different ride. For a C option you could opt to just use FP and not bother with RS passes. Option B is our most used plan as we don't want to hang out at the same ride for an hour taking turns riding. A lot of times we don't each ride. I might ride Space and DH gets a RS to return later. Then he rides Star Tours and gets me a RS to return later. But then we move on and do something else and we don't use the RS passes. It's hard because you're on vacation and you want to spend time together as a family, not a bunch of time splitting up for rides. On our last trip I was pregnant and took our 2 y/o to the room for a nap and left DH with our nearly 5 y/o and they rode the height rides. No RS needed during that time.
