Do you prefer to book online or call?

I'm sure I saw a post about this just recently but my search skills must be lacking...

Do you prefer to book a package vacation on the wdw website or call them directly to book.

Are there benefits to doing one over the other? Feel free to point me to previous posts if you prefer!

Thanks!

It really depends on how familiar you are with WDW, whether you prefer to speak with a CM or book it yourself, and whether or not you already have a specific resort and specific dates in mind. If you are a first-time guest or fairly new to WDW then I would say call for sure, if you are a seasoned WDW vacationer and know the exact resort and dates you would like to book then online may be better in that scenario. Either way you will receive confirmations via email and at some point will have to go online to access your MDE and view your itinerary. Here is both the official website and reservation line:

I price everything out online, but I prefer to call to actually book. Like the pp, if I have any requests I like to make them when I book, so it's just easier for me to call. Plus I enjoy talking about everything Disney with the CMs while my reservation is being made :).

I always call. Especially with the % off deals. Sometimes it works out for the better. We've stayed at a deluxe for just a bit more than the price of mod. If you get a good agent they can give you prices for all the levels at once!

I prefer to book online. I feel like I have more control over my reservation. Sometimes you have to call in (like for a Disney Visa offer)...In those cases I still play around with dates and hotels online so I have an idea of how much rack rate is so that I have a reference point for when I get my final price with whatever offer I'm booking with.

I always call since I utilize the Armed Forces Salute discount, and that's not offered online.

I prefer to book online. I don't like to wait on hold for something that is easily done myself.

I start online then make my requests via Telephone. Had a CM last year that gave us extra discount on room rate due to a glitch in the online booking in addition to free dining.

I prefer to research online, then call Disney to make my room or package reservation, and then do dining and other reservation by myself online.

I really like talking to the cast member who answer the phones - they are always helpful and have good tips, in my experience.

I like to do everything on-line. Up-selling really annoys me, even ever so disney-ish it is executed. If I made my choice I don't want to be pushed around.

I like to book online, it's just easier for me. Besides, I spend all day at work on the phone.

I used to call and would give my request to be added to reservation.
Once online became a viable option and allowed me to "shop and compare" I booked online, followed up with call to add requests.
I avoided online check in. Lines were no shorter and I wanted interaction.
When my requests started being ignored and my in person check in was not productive, I decided to try online check in.
Since doing online check in all my requests have been honored.
So now I am online all the way because the computer has served me better than the CMs.

PS I am a regular and probably know more about resorts than most on the phone so I have no need to ask questions. While they have always been pleasant and aim to please, I've never been offered anything special by talking to a CM at booking. I have made followup calls, like when I wanted to arrive a day earlier (day of) and they honored my discount, added a night to our existing reservation.

When you could get a discount with AAA I usually booked via e-mail with them. I would research all the prices on line first and if AAA gave me a better deal I would go with them, if not I'd book on line. My upcoming trip I booked through Orbitz since they were offering the 30% Disney discount with an additional 15% off that. I did a split stay and even got my orbitz bucks from the first stay applied to my second stay. The only downside to this is if you need to change it you have to go through Orbitz. After I booked my DS and DIL found they could go with me and I found an upgrade to a 1 bedroom at AKV was only $200 total more than I paid for a standard room with my AP discount on the Disney site, this was after the normal discount had expired. I booked that on the Disney site and then had to cancel reservation on Orbitz. The second part of my stay I had a studio at BWV booked for 1 person and called Disney to change it to 3. They changed it to 3 for me but were very rude when I asked about upgrading to a 1 bedroom, told me they had no idea and I would have to go through Orbitz for that or try when I checked in. I've found it's the luck of the draw when I call Disney as to whether I'll get a helpful cast member or not so I tend to not call.
