Conference reimbursement

My husband did a conference while we were at Disney last week. We stayed at BLT for 161 points. Should I tell him to use $x/point (and then the next question is what should "x" be) or the standard room rate/night (and what would be the standard room rate)? Thanks in advance.

If those were your own points then you know how much the points cost you but that is certainly not the rate you want to be reimbursed at. I would go on line to Disney and book a fictious vacation for the same time of year, resort, view, and room and see what Disney would charge you for the trip. Print that out but be sure to add in the 11% tax that would be added onto the bill if you were to stay on cash.

Who is reimbursing you for this and what is their documentation requirements?

That was my thought process. I know the companies I worked for, would require a "real" receipt for lodging, airfare and rentals and would not take anything less.

I don't need to show real receipts. Just give an overall number.
Are you saying you need to give them a pretty close estimate of the cash dollars that were spent on lodging? Or are they ok with a conversion formula from points to cash that explains what it would have cost had you paid for the lodging?

Close estimate.
