My Daughter isn't excited

I would show her a video of the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon!

There is no child who loves pool time who could not be excited by that.

I think children generally live in the moment far more than adults can, without being unkind, it is hard to think about the future when you have very little control over your future yet anyway, most kids perceive that they will not be in a position to make free choices and so I guess they just resign themselves to going along with what's on offer. I would also imagine that a few months seems more like a few years and it seems such a long time away she is probably not focussed on the vacation yet.

I'm sure she will love the water parks if you can get to them.

DD was the same way at 9! She actually told us that she wanted us to pretend like there was no trip planned because it seemed so far away. We proceeded to tease her by saying things like, "Would it be fun to do XYZ? Too bad we aren't planning a trip."

At 12, I'm more logical with her. "Hey - if you want me to decide, I will, but I think you'll have a preference that might not match mine." She has also told me that it doesn't matter what we do, because we'll have fun no matter what, and she knows I have the planning taken care of.

In my DD's case, she LOVES Disney, but the anticipation is a real drag for her.

What about doing a "gift a day" until your trip? A Hidden Mickey Book, some gift cards, new outfit to wear, etc... and she can unwrap one each day. Might help her start to get excited a little. (what kid doesn't like presents???)

Maybe the first gift could be a new backpack/bag for the parks? Then the REST of the gifts could FIT into the bag...things to do on the plane, etc...

Good Luck. I hope that no matter what, you enjoy your trip

Haha, just when I thought I've seen it all on these boards.

Now we are resorting to bribing our kids with a present a day in order to get them to want to be excited about going to Disney World??!?!!

The "middle-class" in me is crying her eyes out now for all of the poor little kids I grew up with (myself and sisters included) that never got to experience WDW at all, much less the chance to decide whether to be excited about it.

SMH.
