Hmmmm, I'm just trying to decide if I should go Preferred at Value with upgraded dining....or standard at Moderate. They are "close" in pricing...or close enough for me to justify..... but the standards rooms at moderates are sooooo farrrr awayyyy... lol :teeth:

If it were me, I'd do the value. Single bus stops and lots of food options, especially if you stay at POP.

I've been to Disney many times, stayed onsite a few times, but have never done DDP, free or not.

I have a few questions...

1. I have an active AP that will still be in effect for the assumed free dining period this fall. My understanding is that I will still need to buy a ticket (maybe a 2-day base) in order to purchase the free DDP package. Correct?

2. Assuming the previous is correct, when I go to the park, I should make sure it is my AP getting me in and not the package ticket. Is this something I can change on my own in MDE or do I need to stop at Guest Relations before entry (or make a call to tech support)?

3. Also, my DW does not have an AP. When purchasing the package, can we purchase different ticket types...for example, a 5 day park hopper for her and the 2 day base for me? (If not, I suppose I could hold on to a 5 day ph for me and upgrade it later to an AP)

4. Even though I do not have a trip booked yet, I've gone ahead and made ADR's. Does it make any difference that I've done that before purchasing the package? (I would think not)

Any rumors on the dates? Going end of August so it's a concern.

Nothing yet

1. Correct
2. You can prioritize the tickets in MDE or you can have the ticket put on a card.
3. You have to have the same length of ticket on the package.
4. No impact.

I just went through quite the Odyssey this morning in preparation for Free Dining.

As always CMs will not confirm nor deny dates, but told me that my current reservations would not allow me to participate if there is FD (I had room only reservations because we were going to purchase AP a week before the trip.) As others have stated to participate in FD you need to have a package with at least a 2 day base ticket per person on the package.

Here is where the fun began; we had to cancel my current reservation which was room only and I am expecting a refund to my Disney Chase CC because Room Only deposits cannot be applied towards a package. We have now rebooked a 9/9 - 9/13 package with CBR room + 2 day base tickets per person and the 1+1+1 dining per person which populated a new reservation number and I had to put another $200.00 deposit on the new package.

With my new reservation they will only have to apply a code to my current dining plan which will make it Free. To solve the problem with wanting to use AP I will have to go to Guest Services when I arrive to have the cost of the 2 day unused base tickets applied to down payments of a new monthly payment annual pass, which means I will only have to pay the first month at Guest Services.

I had an amazing CM that I gave all 1s to on the survey. She made a very confusing situation easy to understand.

Snow White, you're singing my song. I'm so anxious to get any deal right now because my husband is on the verge of just staying off-site if we don't get some kind of discount. I know others have been kind enough to post past FD dates and based on that I'm really nervous. Seems like the past few deals have been for September rather than August. Hoping this year Disney lets us late-August travelers get in on the deal:worried:

I would make your tickets the length you need for this trip. Otherwise, you won't be able to prebook your FPs for more than two days.

I had the same concern, but we have current APs that I can book them under for the trip even though they expire a month before my planned dates. I was told Disney assumes you will renew so lets you book FP+ for dates after your expiration so you don't miss out on early FP+ booking. I had to call passholder services to confirm that.

Do any values offer rooms for 5? I think just AoA which ends up being more for us than Mod.

Ahhh gotcha. I thought the AP you were planning to buy was new, not a renewal. :)

Going in October for the first time. We usually go in February, and get free dining but my parents are coming and they do not want to be in the cold. We were hoping for free dining the last week of Oct (10-23 to 10/28). Any word? We have not made reservations yet, but LOVE POFQ. Thanks!

It is unlikely that those dates, and especially that resort, will be included. POFQ has been excluded for awhile, and those dates were crowded last year without free dining. They could be included in a UOC if you are lucky enough to get one.

how difficult will it be to snag FD on our WL package? We are booked sept 15-25 and with 8 of us, FD would be a HUGE savings. We have two rooms booked, woods view at the Wilderness Lodge, with two different reservation numbers. we had FD added to our packaege in 2013 when we were staying at POFQ and we had no trouble...I"m just worried about the WL since it's curently unser construction with scafolding all around and many rooms unavailable to be booked...makes for less availability at that resort, know wht I mean?

This is very exciting news, and I hope these rumors are true. But there is such little info coming from chip and co and dads guide. Usually Black had dates, excluded resort's but even at this point, we don't even know if this free dining is for just the month of September with Oct-Dec having there own release dates or there plan is to release Sept-Dec all at once.

Well, its a lesson for all the trolls last year that went after Black for his predictions not being 100% correct... Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Each room is a different reservation and confirmation. You can book both as long as you have everyone's information (addresses, ages, phone numbers, credit cards). Make sure that everyone has invited everyone else in MDE, and have the reservations linked together. You should then be able to book your FPs, link your dining, etc, online or on the app. Did that answer your question?

Yes! Thank you. I just wanted to make sure I could book the two room with them having different arrival dates. So they would have to be separate then? No way to book both under my MDE? If not thats fine. As long as i can link online so that i can do all the FP. Thanks for your help. :)

I miss Black. I felt so badly for him that people attacked him for the little bits he might have been off when he was doing his very best to share RUMORS (i.e. - we don't know all the truth) and so many attacked him. He had such great information to share and people ran him off. Can't say I blame him at all...but I do miss him!
