King Dome Satellite Reception

  1. We visited Fort Wilderness last October with our 2014 RV that has an In Motion King Dome Sattelite Dish on the roof. Unfortunately we could not link to any Satellites and received absolutely no reception.
Is there anyone that has a suggestion to remedy this situation ?
When you contact King Dome Tech Support they claim that you must have an in-obstructed path to the Satellites ?

Does anyone have experience with possible site locations at Fort Wilderness CG that may support a signal??

I think it would be almost impossible to get a satellite signal at the fort due to all the trees, the easy remedy is bring a coax cable and plug into the Disney
connection, we had more than enough channels for the little we watched TV.

Thx! I thought of that but we set up the system with two TV's and two separate Dish Network Receivers wired directly to the King Dome.

I guess I could install a splitter to accommodate the cable line ??

True we rarely watch TV at campgrounds especially @ FW but the wife is an insomniac and falls asleep at night with the TV on. We plan on staying for a month as we have family in the area and Fort Wilderness is one of the best!

The newest sites in the 600 loop have the least amount of grown trees. I'd say this was your best chance.

It is very site specific. The grounds are amazing and lots of shade which is nice. But it does impede on Sat reception. Out of all the sites I had I was able to get a signal in some of them, but not all. Thankfully their cable is ok enough to do on the trip.

Be aware that you might need a booster if you put a split in for the cable. We don't actually have satellite, but our camper came wired for it and includes splitters, and we had to install a booster; otherwise the cable is extremely static-y.

My dish is on a tripod. Almost everywhere I camp, including the Fort, I have to set it somewhere away from the RV. The toy hauler for the race team had an automatic dish mounted on the roof. Most race track paddocks are wide open parking lots so no issue, but I went camping in Colorado before racing outside Denver. The CG where we stayed in Colorado Springs had some trees and I had to pull the trailer up about 5 ft to the front of the site to get a signal. Interesting with a 44 ft trailer and a long bed crew cab dually to park next to it.
