Making Magic in the Parks

Hey, I'm planning my May 11-17th part time solo trip to WDW and I've been thinking about little things I can do to make things more magical for those around me.

As a big Disney fan/nerd I feel like I want other people to experience the magical moments I have but, as has been pointed out on the podcast and by many, the constant turn over of Cast Members and the fact that they are often taxed has made magic moments a little more rare.

I thought about bringing some small item (like stickers and glows bracelets,) to give to people who seem deserving of a little extra magic (someone on their first trip, a family whose parents look a bit worse for the wear, etc.)

Would this be too weird/something I shouldn't do? And if I should go ahead with it what items do you recommend? Has anyone else done this before (I'm sure someone has?)

I imagine Disney wont be happy about you purposely handing out items they did not make, mostly for safety reasons.

However you might be able to get away with handing out small collectibles that they make like Pins, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards(but not just one at a time), Vinylmation, small figurines, etc. You could probably find an ebay lot to buy of these items for cheap, but careful you don't get knockoffs and buy from a reputable seller.

I understand wanting to be part of the magic however(I'd be working in the parks if I could). I think as long as you don't hand out too many(maybe 10-15 different families max) and don't make it look too planned, but spontaneous and just wanting to cheer people up, you should be fine. Good luck! It sounds like fun :)

think you will be fine - although Disney is very territorial.

don't tell me that disney cm are feeling bad again - you can help them feel better by listening to their problems. got to start listen to podcasts?
where do you heard them?

I sometimes play the arcade/carnival style games and give anything I win to the next kid I see, never had any issues with that. If you're wanting to make magic I find a really nice, simple things to do is to wave to kids from the railroad/boats etc, I always love doing this and it always seems to make kids smile.

Yeah, I'm not planning on doing anything huge. I'm kind of a dork in that I like doing things to brighten someone's day (paying a strangers person's tab in the Starbucks drive thru, that kind of thing.) I thought it would just be nice to randomly give some people something. I'm planning on shipping a box of stuff down ahead of time (I'm not renting a car and am planning on doing Mickey gifts/Tinkerbell presents for my nephew's first trip,) so it would be easy to throw some more of the goodies I'm picking up for him in the box and give them away to strangers. It won't be anything edible or potentially dangerous, just a small item that would be fun or useful in the park.

Go to the dollar store and get some glow sticks and hand them out at night. Stickers are also east to get and just hand out.

How about little bottles of bubbles. Kids love them and they can keep a kid busy while waiting in long lines.

I like pin trading and get bags of them online. When I see a child, or even an adult, doing something kind or helpful for someone else, I will give them a pin. For example, I once saw a baby drop something that the mother didn't see. A young boy ran over, picked it up and gave it back to the mother and then dashed back to his own parents. I gave him a pin, complimenting him on his good act, and his parents for teaching him good manners.

My own Magical moment happened at DHS over a Star Wars Weekend. A mother was trying to explain to her child that the pin trading set she'd just bought her was to be used to trade for other pins. The girl, however, was clearly reluctant to part with her newly acquired pin collection. So I gave her a pin and told her she had to go over the CM and trade for another pin, which she did and returned very excited. As I turned around I see Darth Vader standing behind me who said, "The Force is strong in you" and walked on. Didn't quite sound at all like Darth Vader but it was a fun moment.

One easy thing I like to do is offer to take photos of families when I see them taking one of each other, then swapping kids or going back and forth. I just ask them if they would like a group photo and they always appreciate it. Only 4 more days for me until I arrive at POR :)

I just read this and it looks like tomorrow is your last day? I hope you are having fun it sounds like you are an awesome person :)

I totally thought by the thread title and the sub-forum this was in, I thought it was going to be about something else. Similar to the "Mile High Club" LOL!!

i dont think it would it be an issue there are a few instagrams that do contests where they hide free things in the parks etc with disney merch even though they arent offically disney affiliated and they have a lot of followers and seem fine so one person handing stuff out i cant see as a problem i feel disney would be a fan of random acts of kindness
