Jungle cruise cafe

Is it true that will replace the ride with a restaurant? Shouldn't they have more rides and less restaurants? I miss the old ride where the captain of the vessel would shot the hippos despite it not being green? Still hippos wriggling their ears was realistic on how they do attack people? Why would they have close it because it was not political correct? Aladdin is political correct?

I was a Jungle Cruise Skipper January 2013 to January 2014 and it is 100% ok and allowed for the Skippers to shoot at the hippos. For some reason, multiple guests would comment to me that this had been taken away because it is not politically correct. This is simply untrue. However, it is also 100% up to the Skipper's discretion if they would like the fire the gun or not. Many Skippers opt not to, for several reasons. 1) They have a joke they like to use that they believe is funnier than shooting the gun. There are several, and depending on delivery, they can be hilarious. 2) The particular boat/gun/audio setup is less than ideal. The boats were constantly being worked on behind the scenes, but there would be boats where the sound effect from the gun was delayed a few seconds or too quiet etc. 3) A small child looks particularly frightened enough. 4) I know some Skippers weren't fond of swinging around a gun on a string, just that it wasn't authentic enough etc.

So it's all up to the choice of your Skipper. I know it's wild, but they do allow those crazy Skips a certain level of autonomy.

I was wondering why not just re-open the AC there as the QS/TS that is planned to go it.

Because AC didn't work for Disney. Sure it had ardent fans (myself included) but the problem was that it was mostly fans that would show up and stay all night and order a few drinks, but Disney wasn't making a ton of money there. (Considering they had to pay multiple actors in addition to bartenders.) Opening something like this in a restaurant format would be next to impossible, since the object of a restaurant (at MK anyways) is to get people in and out again. Why do you think they are going with the BOG QS/TS model. Because the BOG model of letting people pre-order their lunch significantly affects the rate at which people turnover through the restaurant. Greater turnover means less time sitting not spending money.

AC is the opposite of that, even if they did some sort of regular show that would play every hour, it would still keep people in the restaurant too long. And it wouldn't be anything like the adventurer's club. The closest they could do would be to make it a dinner theater with a 90 minute show and charge $60 a head like HDDR.

Anyways, AC would definitely never work in the MK TS restaurant format. Having wait staff be JC skippers does. They can be quippy and sharp like WCC and 50sPT. Could play a musical recording similar to the JC queue. Overall could be a fun experience, but not one you want to stick around once your meal is over.

This was DD3 fav ride when we went. The awe in her face and the excitement - it was contagious!! I think that she would just love to eat here. I can't wait to learn more about it over the next several months!

I always see people saying "Sci-Fi Dine-in should show full length movies". It's the same principle. They want you in, eating and then out. If they showed full movies, people would hang out in their booth to watch them.
