Diamond Celebration: 24 Hour Event @ Disneyland Resort May 22-23!

Any idea what time the parade will be?

Based on the schedule they are releasing now, the parade will be at 8:50pm and 1:00am for the 24 hour event. The regular schedule looks to be slotting the night parade at 8:50pm and 11:00pm.

I just booked my flight for the 21 to 23 so super excited as my best friend has a preminum pass and lives in Long Beach so she can meet me there, but curious I am sure they will cut off entry early correct?

Also should I buy a park hopper pass or just regular? coming back June 28 for 5 days with park hopper

Hotel availability is getting scarce! We ended up booking at Anabella. Has anyone stayed there?
We did too, first time there, one of the people in our party said it is pretty good, very unique. I have heard noise can be a problem, we are bringing a noise machine for Thursday night as we want to go to bed early to be fresh for the 24 hours.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "cut off early entry." Based on the current schedule and past years, there won't be any EMHs or MMs on Friday (5/22) or Saturday (5/23).

How many days are you going to be in the parks during your May trip? Given that Friday is the 24-hour day, I would get a hopper.

Thanks I mean close the park due to capacity

I was lucky enough to book the Hilton convention center the 21 to 23 was cheaper than candy cane inn

I'm at the Hilton for those dates too. It was the best place for the best price I could find. $107 a night at LMTClub! My only concern will be heading back to the hotel in the wee hours since I doubt I'll make it to 6am.

Ah, okay. There is really no way to know in advance if and when the park (historically only DL has experienced capacity closures) will have to suspend entries until the crowds thin out a little. The best that I can think of is to monitor social media and see if folks are saying that they've suspended ticket sales (that's usually the first thing that happens) and/or have stopped allowing guests to enter the park. My guess is that if this happens, it's going to happen in the late-afternoon/early-evening as folks get off from work/school and head to the parks to see the new shows on the 22nd.

good rate mine was a little more $110 per night plus taxes for 2 nights is $258

I am wondering are rooms selling out because its Memorial Day weekend or because of the 24 hr event, Guess it doesn't matter the reason though

That's an interesting question. I think rooms are selling out because all three things are happening concurrently; it's the kick-off to the 60th anniversary, the 24-hour day, and Memorial Day weekend.
I don't know if any one of these events alone could have caused hotel rooms to become scarce. Although, I think Memorial Day weekend, being a three-day weekend probably would have in the end.

Probably a combination of both. I wasn't having a problem finding a room for Thu night, but when I added Friday then a lot of places were booked up or more expensive than normal. I'm happy with the Hilton, I've always wanted to stay there and will be curious about the walk. I think I'll also use the Toy Story parking shuttles. I'm bracing myself for the Friday crowds!!

My sister and I were planning on going that weekend pre 60th announcement b/c of Memorial Day and I had a ticket that expired in June she'll use. I recently added Friday on for me, b/c found out work is closed early Fri so took 1/2 day and am going then. Different hotel Fri night though, b/c rooms went from $76 over the weekend to $150+ for the Fri when I booked.

Exciting reading everyone's plans! Most likely I will not be attending the 24hr event, but I will be able to see the 60th celebration this summer! I have tickets expiring in Aug. so I made the decision to wait. I'm torn because I want to read reviews of the parade/fireworks etc. (for viewing locations) but I don't want spoilers lol Also bummed I won't get to experience the magic of Mickey Waffles and fried chicken :mickeybar (this should remain on the menu). I hope everyone attending has a blast!

anyone plan to get in line super early? I wonder how early they will let us get in line?

If I remember correctly, my kids and I were there at 5am for the 50th. Some people spent the night waiting in line.

The group I am traveling with is planning to get up at 4 am, and walk over to get in line, and we are hoping to make it all 24 hours. We may truly regret this! lol

But ah....grasshopper..
in life it is not what you do that you may regret, but rather what you do not do.
